I'm listening to the press conference. They were doing coordinated surveillance of her vacation home and were planning to kidnap her from there and make her "stand trial for treason". They planned to wire a bomb to a bridge to serve as a police distraction and had tested explosives with shrapnel.

You know, there’s been a lot of “what happens if Trump loses” speculation, including the possibility of rogue militias wrecking havoc. And while logically I know these people exist, this made me realize that I’m also sitting over here in my little bubble of denial.

I hope she gets more security detail and I’m furious, saddened and scared that Trump has enabled domestic terrorists.

The articles I'm reading say they were discussing doing this is several states, but don't mention which ones. I hope all the female Democratic governors have some very good security. From my googling, in addition to MI, there are currently female Democratic governors in RI, OR, NM, ME, and KS.

I hope the other female dem governors are getting more protection but also some of the makes too. There is a lot of hatred toward Pritzker in IL and there have been comments about how he's out of shape, about his weight etc, so sadly I could see these people targeting him or a governor who is older or something.

And the fact that these militia people seem to be getting more organized and more out there is scary. I know there's one that's based out of an area near my hometown who has a big fb presence and hundreds of members.

I’m really uncomfortable with the media using the term “militia” here. This is domestic terrorism. I haven’t read the story, but I already know they are white based on the wording the media would not use if they were Muslim Americans.

Yeah, I don’t want to discount the male Dems; I hope they have good security too. It’s just that these far-right terrorist groups always go hand-in-hand with violent misogyny.

I'm not sure, it says that was their original plan but they changed it. Maybe they decided not to involve that many people? I'm not sure we will see that many arrests. I think they've arrested 13 now?

Yes! I actually Googled the dictionary definition of “militia” this morning because the word made it sound more “official” than this group is. The term is probably appropriate, but for the average person’s understanding, domestic terrorism is much better. But you’re right, I think we all know “militia” implies “white people.”
