Yay, we closed on the house today!!!!
The owners were kind enough to LEAVE THE KEYS IN A POTTED PLANT for us, as opposed to giving them to our agent. Thank gawd the unit is far back from the street.
Congrats, BlondeSpiders,! My ballot hasn't come yet, and I'm getting nervous. I have a locked mailbox so I'm sure it's fine, but I just wanna get this done!

Why is key handoff so hard??
When we bought our house the previous owners locked the keys INSIDE the house instead of giving them to either agent. Our agent called their agent, and their agent tried calling them, and it was a bunch of pointless phone tag before finally our agent ended up springing for a locksmith. I think in all we spent ~2 hours just chilling outside in the driveway and on the porch waiting to get in.

Wow, that is unbelievably dumb. Frankly, it sounds like the kind of thing I would do, lol.
We definitely had an adventure on Monday night. There was a remote fob of some sort that we were unsure what it was connected to. No words on it, nothing identifying. I thought it might be another weird garage door opener since we'd asked about a 2nd one. Nope, it set off the alarm system, which we'd been told was shut off entirely. Of course, we have no code, and the security company won't give it to us. I frantically call my agent who called the sellers' agent, and after 10 shrieking minutes, we got the code to shut it off.
When we saw the fob in a drawer on our first walk through, Jesse joked that it was a Life Alert because it was on a string. Looking back, I think that's exactly what it was.
