I didn't realize there are 2 different models....I have a fitbit and android so the apple aspect doesn't interest me. Is the newer model worth the extra $ or should I stick with the original?

I have the original and I love it!!! I can't speak to the new bike because I haven't tried it. I do have a referral code, which gets us both $100 discount, if you wouldn't mind using it's U4ZNPF.
When you get your bike, let us know what your leaderboard name is!!!
I have heard that the bike+ is super back ordered, as in not till January 2021 or after delivery date so I would look into that before placing an order if you want your bike sooner rather than later. I don’t believe the regular version is as back ordered.

No experience with the new one, but no complaints about the current. The best new feature to me would be swivel screen, that sounds pretty nice for floor work. I mainly do power zone classes, so the auto resistance wouldn't work. Other than that its upgraded sound and apple watch integration I think. Personally, I'd probably just get the less expensive one, with the swivel screen being the only thing I would think twice about.

I don’t think the new one is worth the extra money. If you have the peloton in a space with a tv you can cast from the bike to the tv (note: doesn’t work with chrome cast but does work with fire stick or Roku). Definitely use a referral code, let me know if you need one.

I have the cheaper one and ditto others I don't think the newer one if worth the price difference. The swivel screen sounds cool, but I just cast the app on my phone to our smart TV for floor workouts. It's really easy and I am pretty tech dumb.

It really depends on where you plan on putting the bike and how much space you have. If you have a dedicated workout area and will use the non-bike workouts, the swivel screen seems great...especially for the bike bootcamp classes. If you are like me and will squeeze your bike into a small corner, the swivel screen is not needed. The auto-resistance doesn't appeal to me personally so basically I would consider if you'll use the swivel screen. I have the regular bike, not plus and love it so you really can't go wrong with the lower tier one!
also have a referral code if anyone needs! You basically get the shoes for free.
I went with the bike+ because I like the bigger monitor, and being able to swivel it for other workouts. I figured if I was “going for it”, I’d get the newest version. I also like the auto adjust on the resistance - that’s been an advantage Nordictrak has over Peloton. I like the idea of it not being objective for me.
That said, I ordered Sept 18th and delivery is (as of now) Nov 10th. So there’s a wait.
I bought the original when they dropped the price- the swivel screen was really the only feature I was even vaguely interested in. Mine is in a room with a TV I can cast to and I've been using the app on a tablet for months, so the price difference was really not worth it to me.
I ordered mine on Sept 9 and just got it literally today, so there is a wait time for the regular bike, though I think it's less than for the bike+.
I have the original and love it. It’s super easy to cast the workouts to a tv and really not a big deal to adjust resistance. Since I am essentially a beginner again I do have to modify resistance so the auto function wouldn’t be worth it to me.
I also have the original and cast to my TV for the bootcamps. The swivel screen wouldn't be worth it to me. And I'm good with adjusting my own resistance.
I've had the original bike for a couple of years and it's great. Like gerberdaisy, I primarily do Power Zone classes, so the auto resistance isn't a selling point to me. The only thing I'm interested in is the integration with Apple Watch, but it's not a big deal for me at all.
I have the Bike+ and love it! I ordered it the day it came out (Sept 9th) and received it on Sept 29th. At the time, the wait for the new Bike+ was less than the older bike! But now that may have switched.
The auto resistance is my favorite feature! I haven't used the swivel screen yet but plan on trying it out tonight as I'm going to attempt a barre workout.
Not to be the grumpy bitch in here, but you guys should be really careful posting your code (jaylea). They've been suspending them in recent weeks for people putting them in Facebook groups and there's nothing to say that there couldn't be an employee on here. I know it's a long shot but it does go against the rules to share them like this:
You may not distribute your referral code for any commercial purpose or otherwise publicized for use by the general public or on sites where you are not the primary owner and operator. Peloton reserves the right to refuse to honor referral codes and/or terminate your eligibility for this program if Peloton suspects abuse.

I love my original, but I’d go Bike+. Will you keep your bike in a room with an Apple TV? If not, the swivel screen would be a really nice feature. Also, the new auto-adjust for resistance sounds really cool as well!
I would LOVE to have the swivel screen - it would be so much easier for boot camps/barre etc. (i don’t have a tv in the room my bike is in). I’m keeping my old bike but if I was getting a new one I would go for the plus

Did you do the latest challenge? I told myself I was going to retake the FTP today, but I had beers last night and I am just not feeling it. Also what's your leaderboard name? I take probably 95% PZ classes.

I did, but then hurt my back right before w7r3, so didn't do that ride or week 8. I stupidly retook the FTP week 4, so wasn't planning on doing it last week anyways, but still annoyed to not finish. I signed up for the next one and make retake it before it starts. With the challenge over I feel so lost, but am kinda liking the freedom. I'm LeeLeeNY on there.

I'm so bad and haven't taken my FTP after the last two challenges....I said I was going to do it this week, but I did 50 miles on Saturday for the Pelofondo, and I'm just not mentally ready yet lol. Maybe next week.

What is FTP? What are PZ classes? I’m feeling lost not having a fall race to train for and I’d love a program to follow!

PZ is power zone. FTP is functional threshold power. I’ve never done either but H does and he said FTP is an estimate of the maximum watts you can push for an hour.

Powerzone. Its a way of training based on your fitness level. Look up Powerzone Pack on facebook, and you'll find out all you need to know and way more. There are a couple ways to get into it, either do the discover your powerzone program on the bike, or through the group they have challenges. The next one starts in the beginning of November and is 6 weeks long.

meganew, all of this. The FTP test is a 20 min test (plus a 10-15 min warm up) that measures your current fitness. Your Power Zones are then calculated as a range of percentages off that...as you go through the program/challenge, your fitness increases and then you should retest at the end. I love it because you can actually see your improvement through the graphs.
All that said, I am really bad about retesting because it suuuuuuucks.

Oooooh that sounds motivating. Where do I even find that?

Try the "Discover Your Power Zones" program. It's under classes and then programs. I'm in week 2 of 4 now. It's good. It's actually easier than I expected though. I think I under performed on the FTP test. LOL But I'll retake it in week 4 anyway.

Each powerzone instructor has a FTP test (some have more than 1), I found the best way was to look at the discover your powerzones program and then took Matts intro to powerzone ride, then took Dennis's warm up and test. There are 1 or 2 included as part of the program. Otherwise its searching through powerzone classes and finding the warmups and tests. I love having the zones on your screen, adds a whole new element to the bike.
Then you can be like me and obsessively look at my graphs after each ride to see how much time I spend in each zone.

ETA: The test itself was....intense.
Intense...I think Dennis said it best, "if you have enough breath to swear at me you aren't working hard enough" (or something like that). I could and apparently I wasn't lol
And, now I will stop obsessively talking about powerzone!

Yes I was dying during the test, but now I've been taking the PZ classes and I feel like I didn't try hard enough because the classes feel kind of easy and I honestly need to work hard to stay low enough to be in the zone they tell me to stay in. I don't know. It's weird. I'm trusting the process though and completing it by staying in the zone they tell me to, but it means my resistance is pretty low even in zone 4. We'll see what happens.
