I have a real group of slackers I’m dealing with at work right now, so I’ll be working a bit this weekend because I couldn’t get what I needed out of them until Friday. I don’t think it will take too much time though.
I’m waiting in line for ikea to open so I can get a side table for the couch in the playroom, then heading over to the mall to exchange Christmas pajamas, old navy for new winter hats, Costco, and the grocery store.
It’s supposed to be in the 60s down here today, so we’re trying to get yard work and other random things done around the house so we can hunker down inside tomorrow. Temperature is supposed to drop to 25. I’m really hoping for lots of snow in the mountains to help the firefighters get these crazy fires under control.
Lazy morning, then heading to an outdoor fall farm thing. Need to get to the grocery store and have the kids make birthday cards for my mom too. Tomorrow, my mom is picking the kids up for an overnight at her house, and DH and I are going to an outdoor beer tasting and then taking an afternoon nap, lol.
It's weird to have plans, it's definitely still kind of uncomfortable to be out and about. We only pick things that are free/super cheap in case we feel like we need to bail!
I slept til 9! That never ever happens. I swear I wake up on the weekends earlier than my alarm is set for weekdays!
We have no plans. I will finish the laundry I started yesterday and might do a little vacuuming. It was suppose to be in the 60s this weekend, but now it’s 71. I want colder weather.
Just hanging out on the couch with DS right now while he watches some shows, and reading 28 Summers by Elin Hildebrand. I'm enjoying it so far. H is golfing.
We're having another couple over for dinner (outside, and we've already been seeing them since our H's work together - I always feel like I need to justify here, lol). Does anyone have ideas for a more special/fancyish dinner that I can make tonight? I'm willing to put in a few hours of work since I don't have anything else to do.

Work today. Saturday 3 of 9. I need to vote this weekend too. I also need to try to find our paint for the kitchen. We had some work done, but DH couldn’t find the paint, and neither could I. If I don’t find what we had, I’ll have to repaint the entire kitchen and dining room. Haha lolsob. I swear I had all the swatches together for the house (bathrooms, bedrooms, halls, etc) so hopefully DH can find that today. :/
Otherwise, I’ll be cleaning, purging, reorganizing my kitchen with my new space. I’m pretty excited!

Ina Garten has a new cookbook out that my cousin has been making yummy food from, so I would probably search some of her stuff. She has many good and special dishes.

Today was the first day of early voting. DH and I had to wait in a fast-moving line. 200+ people had already voted at the scanner I used. There was still a line when we left.

We watched Hubie Halloween last night and just relaxed.
I did a Target, Sam's Club, and grocery run this AM. Then DH and I went on a walk. Finishing up laundry and then a lazy day. Maybe doing some online Christmas shopping. Watching a scary movie tonight with DS1 in the basement while DH watches a less scary movie upstairs with the other two.
It will be cold tomorrow, but taking the kids out to hike or to a playground. Will also try to take some photos of them for our Christmas card. Then driving around some car dealerships to start looking at and narrowing down a new vehicle for me. Will probably do another Odyssey, but looking at 3rd row SUVs like the Atlas too.
DD has yet another project for school and we really need to get some work done on it tomorrow. This past week she had 3 overlapping projects all of which required parental help and not just because she has dyslexia, the other parents of kids in her class were all complaining about how age inappropriate they were. Like they were so frustrating it was anger inducing. I love her teachers and would normally say something, but with all the virtual stuff plus the teacher is moving a parent into a nursing home I am just letting it go for now. Another parent maybe already complained anyhow.
We have plans! DH bought tickets to this huge pumpkin patch a few weeks ago and then it rained the day we were supposed to go. We’re going today, despite the temperature being about 40° this afternoon. DS is super excited and DH and I will deal with the cold. They supposedly have decent food, so we’re going to enjoy that. It’s a big thing here, and we’ve managed to avoid it for years, and I’m hopeful that it won’t be as crowded as a typical fall due to COVID, the cold, etc.
Later, DH and I have to crunch some numbers as I think we have the beginnings of a plan to really make a dent in our debt. I’m likely getting a new (to me) car and then we have to figure out the plan for the rest. I’ve been wanting to do this for YEARS and DH was never on board. I’m not really sure what’s changed for him, other than the impending winter and pandemic mean we’re not really going anywhere/doing anything so why not tighten our belts now. It’s nice to feel like we’re on the same page and can finally get this going, rather than me being the realist who was always saying no and him saying “it’ll be fine!”
TBM- Patti's Mexican Table on PBS is focusing on Sonora this season. I watched an episode this morning that had the most amazing tortillas. They used beef lard. You should watch the episode because they show some of the process.
We just wrapped up our participation in the neighborhood garage sale. I always forget how much work it feels like to stand there waiting lol. We didn’t have too much to put out, but sold a fair amount. We told the kids last night that they could keep the money from any toys they wanted to sell. Much to my surprise, they sold three FULL Ikea bags of stuffed animals! The best part about our ‘hood garage sales is that the organizer (a neighbor who is also a realtor) comes around with his truck to take leftover items for donation - so nothing comes back into my house!!

I'm in my last day of marathon online conferences. Today is set up to be great and heavy. Two presentations re: Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome with Dr. Joy DeGruy.

I’m exhausted. I just stuck DS in front of the iPad for hours and don’t even care. I have to get ready and head to my moms house to help my brother with a school project.
Hopefully H will take DS tomorrow morning because this mama needs some sleep.

Thanks, I keep meaning to look for that episode. ETA: Wait...there are more Sonora episodes?
Pre pandemic, (and when Patti was filming the episode there) my sister worked at the bread bakery that was featured in a spot on her website and got to meet her, but she's staying home until all of this is not such a concern. I don't know if the bakery made it in the show, although I think the owner/baker was on with his involvement with the local grain industry. He's an amazing guy.

I just finished filming for a documentary film. They were here for 3 hours. I think the conversation went well so hopefully my media training pulled through and I sounded ok on camera. I'm pretty sure I did well with not many filler words of like or umm.
If I make it into the film I'm worried about the lighting though. Hopefully I don't look too dark because I hate when you can tell in photos or film that they don't compensate for Black people. Not that it's bad to be dark skinned, I love my skin, but I hate when the lighting doesn't come out correctly.

Yes- the whole season: patijinich.com/show/patis-mexican-table-season-9/. Today was episode 2. I really like the episodes where she's on location. She seems more at ease and does such a good job letting the people she's featuring and their food shine. It looks like the bakery is in an upcoming episode.
We decided we wanted to go hiking, and from deciding until leaving, it was 1 hour and 34 minutes because of insanely slow moving children. We only have two. How do people with five ever get out of the house?!?
Earlier this morning, my friend and I met up to do a book exchange and I have eight new books to read!
And I was told yesterday that I am getting the promotion I have been hoping for for over a year! I am so, so excited. I wish we could go out to celebrate, but it’s too cold for patio drinks.

Ordered our matching family Christmas jammies. We do it every year but I cried this year putting the matching baby jammie onesie in the cart. I can’t believe this is our life. ❤️

My ankle isn't healing properly from my fall in July. I had a MRI this morning so we will see what the results say.
PTO finished the fall raffle on Wednesday. I'm so excited that I've gotten all 39 baskets out of my house! We start a butter braid fundraiser on Monday and I'm dreading it.
Had the worst luck at Target, Dick’s, and then getting lunch, so apparently I should have stayed home.
Then at 4, we’re going over to the PE teacher’s house because they are doing human sundaes as part of our PTA fundraiser. E is so excited to go. It will be outside and masked. There’s 5 kids from the PTA going over and it’s the PE teacher and music teacher. We have the best encore teachers.
