I just found a flaw with this board -- your search term must be 4 letters or more. Ugh!
Anyway, someone posted in one of the threads yesterday saying that s/he did Search Engine Optimization for a living. Mind giving me some tips?
Because of the way proboards is set up, I can't edit the html--so no adding metadata, no changing the title of pages, etc. I also don't get to choose what the url path is (meaning I can't just make this board panceproboards.com/politics).
Is there anything I could be doing to help us out?
I don't do it for a living, but I'm relatively decent at it (got my husband's company on the first page in chicago for many of his keyword terms/phrases) - I do UX for a living. Sadly, my tricks are all the things you listed - mainly keyword rich page titles and metatags.
The boards are searchable and google is indexing. For example - I grabbed a post title from yesterday (aka arborgold is a wimp - it seemed the least likely to have lots of other content with the same terms - lol) and did a search and we do turn up on google.
I'll give this a little more thought - hope to come up with something.
Not to be a stick in the mud but these boards are OLD school - any web savvy person knows this. Idk what the new hotness is for message boards and SEO and Web 2.0, so I am not sure how much better other boards out there can really be.
Yeah - I sort of agree. Short of creating a blog with relevant content (like purseforum or TWOP), which I'm sure no one would want to do, what can you do? We are being indexed and over time, people will find us. After all, we've all accidentally come across other forums from time to time, right?
