Has anyone made a wooden cover or top for a wire dog crate? I’d like to be able to sit things on it, the only place it fits is in a very visible spot of the living room. I’m tired of looking at it and it seems like wasted space.
I ended up moving before I decided to do anything with his crate.
The second link is making me think I might be able to fit one of them under an existing table. Hmmm. Thanks!
I think Orvis had some crates that were integrated into furniture. I loved the look but my dog was 100lb and the cost just got prohibitive at that point. Crates are not attractive, but I loved that my dogs had their space to go to when they got stressed.

Our older dog is very well behaved and could totally be left loose in the house when we leave but she loves being crated. I left it unlocked once and when I came home she met me at the door, led me to her crate and kept high fiving the door to it. She was very concerned lol
Our puppy can’t be left loose but maybe I should wait until she is fully grown and price out the furniture ones vs DIYing it. Right now she has a too big crate we had leftover from when our last dog was in crate rest and it’s big and ugly .
I can see a crate being big enough for your dog being cost prohibitive!
I bought something that was a crate with wooden top that could be used like a side table. Unfortunately, any kind of moving or shifting by the dog inside the crate made anything on top of the table really unstable. I think I'd rather find a table that I could squeeze a regular crate under.

We built wooden crates for our dogs. We have a 50lb dog and a 20lb dog. I want to say the cost for everything was less than $100, with the most expensive part being the top. I think we found an online plan, maybe on Ana White

Thanks!! I’ll search for that. That doesn’t sound to bad money-wise.

We did have tools though. It would get pricey if you need to purchase. A kreg-jig made it easy and it looks really nice

I think my dad would have everything. Hopefully!
I was just looking at the ones we made and I think you could make them even cheaper. we used a project panel for the top, but I think you could just use 1x4s or 1x6s and sand them down and they would look really nice and be way cheaper than the project panel.
