This really helped me, and it's the OPPOSITE of what I've always heard.
I read that you crave what you eat. I never considered this. I always "heard" you have to eat all the foods you love (even if you love cotton candy for example) in moderation so you don't feel deprived. Now I'm not saying don't ever have a treat, but the less crap I eat, the less I want to eat it. I crave things like salads and egg white omelets these days. I can barely even eat sugar b/c it is too sweet for me.
Sorry if this is a "duh" statement. It was a real eye opener for me and found it to be very true in my life so maybe it will help someone else.
I desperately need to get back to eating healthier. I've been terrible. I think I need to focus on eating less crap, and if any weight falls off, great - but it shouldn't be my focus, otherwise I get frustrated and pissed off.

This ties in with a philosophy I'm trying to stick to about listen to what your body wants and needs, not sugar and junk. Once you are giving your body the right nutrients, it stops crazing as much random stuff because you stay hungry until you get the nutrient you need.
It also focuses on eating only when you are hungry and stopping when satisfied (not full-full, just no longer hungry). Of course that also means no more stress eating or boredom eating.

I try to focus on eating healthy and food that will help me to be strong. And like what the point of food is, that it's supposed to nourish me and not comfort me

Sugar is addicting, the more you eat it, the more you want it. I am trying to cut it out and get back to reasonably strict Paleo, my diet has been terrible lately!
