Honestly I remember feeling VERY scared for Obama's safety when he was first elected too, though, and his team kept him safe for 8 years. I think the secret service must be pretty amazing these days.

I pointed out to MH that the cars are all red, white, and blue and we wondered how they arranged that ... and then it occurred to us that the cars were likely provided by the campaign and do not belong to the audience members. Therefore they can’t sneak in explosives or whatever, and they don’t have the keys so they can’t spontaneously drive through the crowd.

I didn’t hear any such news about this, to be fair. But the fact that the cars are all red white and blue and look like they’re identical makes me think that they’re provided for the audience.


ETA: MH also pointed out that they look like Fords and Jeeps (from what we can see anyway), so it also makes sense that the campaign would provide all US made cars.

These are the sorts of details I am completely oblivious to, lol. You are right, they must be provided. That would make so much sense from a safety perspective. That makes me feel so much better!

But the campaign had always intended to hold the news conference in a friendlier part of town. The president’s team had struggled with news conferences in this Democratic stronghold all week. Since Wednesday, the streets outside of the Convention Center have been filled with pro-Biden protesters chanting, “Count every vote!” On multiple occasions, the Trump campaign surrogates were drowned out and surrounded by the much larger pro-Biden crowd.

I just can't with thos protest. The heavily armed Trumpers are demanding that the votes be counted, which is...literally what is happening inside the building. Alex Jones showed up and has become the de facto leader of about half the Trumpers. The remaining half have split off and set up camp across the parking lot because they dont want to be associated with Alex Jones. How much of a garbage human do you have to be that even Trumpers do to want to be associated with you?
