It’s been a while since I’ve been on here... life just gets crazy sometimes!
So I’m making video game ornaments for my kids raffle basket, base of acrylic brought from a vinyl, store. Put vinyl on them and then contemplating putting uv resin on to seal them..
Has anyone played with UV resin? Any tips and any recommendation in which one to get?
Here’s a pic of one one them so far... and thanks in advance for any recs...
I have. I was not impressed. The one I have has yellowed over the past year very noticeably. Plus it shrunk in and pulled the clay pieces I was covering into a bit of a cup shape. Noticeable, but they're still usable as magnets. And it doesn't seem to be as hard as the epoxy pieces I did, they have scuffed a bit and I can dent them with a nail, still, a year later. The UV resin I used does not stick to the shrinky dinks I covered, I had to use 2 part epoxy resin for those. I don't know if it will adhere to acrylic at all. I think 2 part epoxy resin is far superior unless you need it to set fast, which is where UV resin is preferable, obviously.
I'll add that i don't even know if it's possible to cover acrylic with resin as acrylic is often used to make the molds that resin pieces are cast in. It may just pop right off regardless of what brand/type you use.
