My house is full of scuff marks, and we've only lived here for 7 months. The previous owners painted it before they put it on the market, but I don't think they used a very high quality paint. It is also a pretty light color, which probably doesn't help.
What is your favorite brand/type of paint that holds up well? We are just 2 adults so we don't need something that holds up to stuff like sticky fingers and kids drawing on the walls, but I want to be able to wipe scuff marks and have it not look like a stain afterward.
We exclusively use the Sherwin Williams Emerald line. In addition to easy clean up, you need way less paint than you would with some of the less expensive brands, the coverage is amazing.
I was buying the most $$ Benjamin Moore paint and the guy told me to get the special scuff paint for our foyer instead, so that’s what I’m using now. Looks good so far! I think it’s called Scuff X or something, Benjamin Moore brand.

The stains might be caused by the wrong sheen too. I think flat paint always shows where I've cleaned it. Stick with eggshell or satin. I like Benjamin Moore Regal or SW Duration. Ben Moore Aura is good but I think it's only worth the extra cost for the kitchen or bathroom.
BM Aura for your high moisture areas. I wish I could remember the type we used in the bedrooms, but I love it. It also has great coverage. We painted DS's entire bedroom and used less than a half gallon.
We just used SW Emerald for our bedroom and I am amazed at the difference between it and Glidden and Behr (what we've used previously). We got it at a 40% off sale so the price was comparable. The couple smudges I've seen wipe right off but we've only had the color for a few weeks so no idea long term.
I love Benjamin Moore paint. Behr is also very good. I love love love Benjamin Moore Bath & Spa paint. It is pricier but it has a washable flat finish. I find Sherwin Williams eggshell finish to be too shiny.
ETA: I buy the BM paint at Ace Hardware. The local paint store adds something like $10 extra for a gallon.

Yes! Flat has no use for life. It scuffs, and can’t be scrubbed.
