Anyone got one of these? My membership renewal was in October and I did think about downgrading but didn't get around to it... wondering if calling now will do anything...
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
Mine renewed in October too. They only charged $450 though instead of the $550 that the article states.
I did not try to do anything. I have faith that it will be worthwhile to keep the card through next year - I'm building up a lot of points so we will definitely be able to take a nice trip once things are back to "normal".
You can also use your $300 travel credit on some other things (I think including groceries?) so I'm ok with only paying net $150 to continue to rack up points.
My brother and I both have CSR and both called in the past few days. He got $150 and I got nada.
When he called in, my brother said, "I'm calling to see if there's a retention bonus for my card" And the rep said, "You'd like to see if you have any retention offers, is that correct?" My brother said yes, and the guy told him he had a $150 offer, which he applied to my brother's card.
So I tried yesterday and not only did my card not have any offers, the person wanted to talk to me about whether I was considering cancelling, if I know all the new ways you can get the travel bonus this year, how they're trying to still make the card valuable even though travel isn't happening right now, etc. So no bonus AND I had to have a conversation.
So interesting. I just called. I had no offer. I explained that my "friend" did and questioned why I wouldn't? (I use this card a lot.) She didn't have an explanation and told me that I would get the same answer each time I called back. I'm still going to call back lol.
It took me 5 tries but finally got the $150. Each call only took 5 min so worth the time
Did you pay the $450 renewal this year or the $550? I tried calling once and got a firm no, and I thought maybe it was because I paid a $450 renewal...trying to decide if it's really worth trying again

$450 for this year, renewed back in Oct. I read that the key to getting it is really being convincing that you plan to cancel. The first 4 times I called, I just casually asked for any retention bonus. It was when I was really forceful about cancelling the card is when they made the $150 offer.
