We're giving our kitchen a bit of a facelift... painting cabinets white, painting walls green, changing cabinet pulls to black, installing over-the-range microwave. I have a quandary about our kitchen rug situation and need some hive mind help.
Right now we have three small gray rugs in our kitchen area (in front of the sink, stove, refrigerator), and one gray runner in front of our French doors.
I'm thinking of swapping our three kitchen rugs with one larger area rug, like a 5x7 or whatever would fit best... haven't measured yet.
And I'd kind of like to add a rug under our kitchen table, because the wood floors there are so scuffed from the chairs moving (even with protective things on chair bottoms). But I can't envision how to have a rug there and a runner in front of the French doors (which is needed given our two boys are in and out constantly).
Any suggestions?
Here are pics of the kitchen from the listing photos. Our kitchen table is round. And, of course, these pics make it look larger than reality.
Bigger vs. smaller ... my comment on that is driven by having cats who barf on rugs. Smaller ones that have to be washed occasionally is easier than one big one. But that's my cat-driven world.
Thanks! I was thinking of getting a Ruggable that’s larger so it’s washable. We have one by our front door that we like.
Your point about the anti-fatigue mat is good. I used to have one and liked it. I feel like that’s the tricky part... if I get a larger rug that sits in the center, I don’t have rug underfoot where I actually do most of the standing (sink, stove, and that little corner between the kitchen and eat-in area).
