28 weeks (viability!!), team blue! Seeing my OB tomorrow and I should be getting my c-section date.
2. Rants, raves, feelings?
Tired, achey, all the third-trimester usual's. Although I have significantly less heartburn than I did with DS1 which is nice. I seem to have bursts and fits of energy followed by a couple slower days. We raised DS1's bed this weekend so I don't have to crawl on and off the floor every night for snuggles (he has the ikea kura and when we originally moved him into a big boy room we just put the mattress on the floor so it was more or less a floor crib).
3. Do you have a birth plan/have you started making one?
Repeat c-section. Only allowed 1 support person due to COVID so obviously that's H. Plan to be nude with a warm blanket on the table so they can slip baby under for immediate skin-to-skin. Delayed cord clamping since it's not an emerg section this time. I've also been talking to my OB about lowering the drape so I can see him being pulled out. Latching for first feed within the first hour after birth. This will likely be in the recovery room as it's super awkward positioning to do on the table while they put me back together.
4. Any crazy pregnancy dreams lately?
Oh man. I usually have crazy dreams when I'm not pregnant but last night takes the cake. Jamie Dornan had kidnapped me and was holding me hostage 50-shades style (um, yes please).
1. How far along are you? Team? 34w, 3d - Team Pink! Can't believe I'm only SIX WEEKS from my due date!
2. Rants, raves, feelings?
In yay news, DH is going to paint the nursery this week! Hurray! In not yay news, my dad has COVID. Boooo. He started feeling achey and fatigued middle of last week, got tested right away and got positive results over the weekend. We're assuming step-mom is positive, too, but she was supposed to get tested yesterday. They are both feeling okay now which I'm so grateful for. I'm going to talk to my midwife when I see her today about when it will be safe to see them again since they are supposed to be DD1s care when I'm in labor. My dad can go back to work, per his office and CDC guidelines, on Monday!!! Apparently the new guidance is you are OK to be around others 10 days after you first had symptoms. Still not optimistic about Christmas even if they are "OK" per the CDC but want to make sure they will be soon since I'm in the final stretch of this pregnancy!
3. Do you have a birth plan/have you started making one? My plan this time is pretty much the same as with DD1. I was really happy with my labor and delivery experience overall so I'd like to try and repeat that as much as possible. I do not want an induction and my midwife is fine with that - we will only schedule an induction if I get to 41 weeks. I'd like to have a med-free labor and delivery OR go as long as possible med-free. (I did have an epidural with DD1... but it only took on one side, lol! The upside of that was that I knew when to push during delivery without being told so it worked out.) Our hospital does a "magic hour" after birth which I loved. As long as baby looks good, they leave you as a family for about an hour so you can do skin to skin and have some alone time with baby before they come back to do all the other things they need to do. There are no visitors allowed this time and that's fine with me, I only want DH with me anyway!
4. Any crazy pregnancy dreams lately? Not really anything crazy! I definitely have more vivid dreams when I'm pregnant, though! Last week I had a dream where everyone was wearing a mask, it was my first time since the pandemic started that people have been wearing masks in my dreams!
corgimom - oh man, I'm sorry about your dad having COVID. I hope he has a swift recovery. I cannot believe that he's allowed to go back to work. Here we can't go back until our case is resolved.
I saw my OB this morning. Baby boy is right on track, projected to be between 7.5-8 lbs at birth assuming a normal growth rate and that my blood sugars remain controlled.
My placenta previa has resolved (I was so surprised)! But we're going ahead with the repeat c-section because of the GD, history of low fluid with DS1, blah blah blah. Which I'm happy about given how labour went last time. It's booked for 38+2 on February 24th. 71 days to go!!

Yup, the CDC says you can resume being around people "10 days after symptoms first appear as long as you are fever free for 24-hours and any other symptoms are improving" or "10 days since the date of your positive test". Which is why I'm sort of ehhhh, that seems quick? What happened to 2 weeks!? Thankfully he was already feeling fine on Sunday so it seems he has a very mild case - My parents are pretty healthy but they are in their mid-60s so I've been really worried for them. However, I'm glad he had some symptoms and got tested otherwise he never would have known!
So glad baby boy is growing well and you've got your c-section date! I feel like I'm so SO soon and you're about a month after me which is also SO soon!! Are you feeling ready? I waver between, we've got then and SO MUCH TO DO!

Hahaha... mentally and physically I'm ready. The nursery is usable at this point and clothes are washed (still need to buy some more though - naturally DS1 was a summer baby and DS2 is winter). I just have to hang some decor and finish getting clothes into drawers. We use cloth diapers and some need new elastics to be usable for DS since they tend to break down after years in storage so they need to go to the seamstress over the holidays. I also want to do some freezer meal prep, bake & freeze lactation cookies, etc over the holidays and into January. That was one thing I didn't do much of with DS1 and definitely regretted.
achi Oooh, meal prep is such a great idea! I really should put together some easy meals that I can freeze. I'm SO over cooking right now and I really don't see that changing with an infant at home, lol. We'll see what I can get to in the new year. I just baked so so so many cookies for Christmas and while I love baking, I need a break!
You are so ahead of it all! I haven't even brought up clothes to wash and our nursery is 0% done. Thankfully, the nursery will come together quick and she'll be sleeping in our room for several months anyway, but still! I may need to get productive this weekend!
