I tried today. The look more like turds but I think they’ll work. My advice would be to get a really high quality chocolate for the shell. I chose milk morsels bc I know the kids don’t like dark chocolate. They didn’t temper really well. Next week I might go back for some ghiardella dark. Also freeze them in their molds for at least 30 minutes.

I’ll be so mad if I end up with turds. Lol.
Well, I have 2 good ones. The problem was I had a little trouble sealing them so I used a paint brush. So they aren’t smooth all over. I think I could get better with practice! I’ll decorate one as soon as the kids go to bed and post it
I was thinking of making some this weekend! But I was hoping to get away with not using molds. I saw something about wrapping fall around a spherical item and making a “mold” that way .. I will follow up if I do it, with some #nailedit pictures 😂

I watched a youtube video because I'm going to TRY to make them. She warmed a plate on the stove and then rubbed the open rim on it to melt the end, did the same with the other half and put them together that way. It looked like it might be easier than a video I saw of someone painting melted chocolate around the rim like a glue.

Do hot chocolate bombs taste good or are they just pretty? I was thinking of grabbing some from our local ice cream place but I’m not convinced they even taste good.

Well, they are made with all delicious things. I added hot chocolate mix, mini marshmallows, and green and red sugar sprinkles inside mine in a milk chocolate shell. I’m going to drizzle white chocolate on top with crushed candy cane for decoration. It all melts together in hot milk, I’m here for it.

I think they’re basically what you’d get in a mix packet, plus marshmallows and extra chocolate. I’m not a hot chocolate fan, but it seems like it’s probably a winner if you ordinarily get down on it.

I think it probably just depends upon what kind you get. We were gifted Grinch and Mermaid ones which were green and purple so made from a white chocolate the base. They weren’t our favorite.... but the grinch’s heart grew three sizes which was pretty cool.

Oh yeah that sounds questionable in taste but cool to watch!

I made some using semi sweet chocolate chips that turned out pretty good. They didn’t look super fancy, but good enough for us. To seal them I ran a butter knife under hot water and ran the flat side around the rim so it melted enough to seal. Then I used the knife to fill any holes around the seam.

My 7 year old and I made a few during her lunch break for remote school. They didn’t look great, but she and her sister loved eating them after sledding this afternoon. We used the molds we have for big ice balls- they were too small to hold all the stuff, but I don’t want 1000 silicone molds.

I’ve made them a couple times with almond bark, my kids like them and the almond bark is easy to work with. I’m going to attempt a giant one this weekend, I bought a “ball” cake pan that is about 6”
Then I came back to reality and bought them from a chocolate shop.
No regrets.
I wanted to buy them but no stores around me sold them! And since they’re quite fragile I was hesitant to ship.
As H was watching me he said, “why didn’t you just find a place to buy these things?” 🤣
I know you already made them, but if you ever want more and don't want to make them... I found an Etsy shop that will let locals pick up to save on shipping costs. I think I remember from other conversations that you are really close to me. They are happylittleelixirs on etsy.

Yesssss thank you!! I may still buy some. I’m not certain mine won’t fall apart 🤣

I'm picking mine up tomorrow, so I'll let you know if they don't look good lol. Pick up is right by Del Val U.
After I finally got my molds, ds and I made a few with Aldi melting wafers. It went well for the most part, but my molds are 2" and a bit too small for a full serving of cocoa. And I know they say the chocolate from the bomb makes it not necessary to have a full serving BUT the chocolate doesn't dissolve, so it ends up a (delicious, don't get me wrong) sludge at the bottom of the mug. So I ended up topping off in our cup with more mix and between that and the sludge-bottom I was like .... this is a lot of work for an "instant" beverage. Lol
I have grand ideas of making some with my kids to give us something to do over break. Reality is they will be engaged for 5 minutes then it will all become my job.
