Sorry, fluffy post ahead... This is probably a dumb question, but the daughter of a former colleague (retired) just started teaching and my partner and I have been helping her as we have the same grade level. She is obsessed with flair pens. I have never heard of these. Am I missing something? I use regular ball points. Is this a thing?

I teach on the college level and Flairs are perfect for writing notes on the document camera. They are smooth, bright, and don’t bleed. She may have picked up the habit in college.

I have some, not a fan. I can’t seem to press hard enough or something. My long term sub used one of them until it ran out and apologized like 3 times when I returned. It was awkward, and not close the most offensive thing she did.
There are teachers at my school with giant cans of them on their desks.
Flair pens are my most used pen. I love them and have them in all the colors. They are the best for color coding (each grade has a color for notes), when I do math problems I use different colors to show the steps and how coefficients are related, etc...
My actual favorite are these from Sharpie, but they don’t have as good of a color selection and write thinner which is good for personal use. These are what I use at home for my planner and meeting notes.

Just a good old Paper Mate Flair pen does me fine. It was my go to pen when I was a broke architecture student for notes and sketching and projects along with the guys from www.topwritersreview.com/reviews/tutoreye/. Now I don't feel the need to use anything else. The inks are well-saturated.
