We have a GE monogram stove. The knobs have a black silicone or rubber band around them that’s stretched out on two of them.
I looked up the serial number and GE sells replacement knobs only (full unit) for $100 a pop. Not worth it.
I found an aftermarket knob for $25, but they’re shiny chrome and don’t match the others right. I can swap the band out really easily, but it seems silly to pay $50 for two bands and throw away the knob itself.
Soooo my question, does anyone know what that band thing is called or have an idea of where I can buy a replacement?
Tapatalk won’t let me post pics, so here’s a link to the replacement knob on Amazon.
We have a local appliance part supply store that mostly sells parts to repairmen, not to people. However, I have twice contacted them and gotten amazing advice and service for parts on our old fridge. They even threw in connectors and extra wire for us so we didn’t have to try to solder the wires ourselves.
I would suggest you see if you can find someone like that. You could send them pictures or the link and they could probably pull it up in their catalogs.
I'm not sure which part you are looking for but try searching "stove knob adapters" on Google and you'll see lots of universal kits that look like they may have the part you are looking for. Here's an example:
Otherwise, I would call Abt.com. They are a chicagoland appliance store known for their selection and amazing customer service. You could probably tell them the stove model and they would help you if possible.
Accountingcat, the one that you posted is significantly cheaper than the ones I bought.
I ended up just swapping out the band and tossing the knob itself.. so wasteful. Three of the other knobs will need replacement bands, so at least I have a cheaper option now.
