QOTW: Approximately how many books do you own (that are for you) that you haven't read yet? Physical books only, ebooks/audiobooks don't count for the purposes of this question. If your answer is zero - is that because you have read all the books you own or because you don't own many/any physical books? If your answer is more than zero, do you think you will read them all soon?
My reading has really slowed down. I'm on track but I've been glued to the news like I haven't been in four years. It's impossible to look away.
I read The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse the first day of the year. Short and sweet. Then I read Group, which I also loved. Since then I've started and stopped a few things that just didn't grab me. I'm in the middle of reading The Book of Rosy. I'm sure it's fine but I've been distracted. I should probably get back to it.
QOTW: I own several books I haven't read. Off the top of my head I'm going to guess 40. Could be more. They're all books I want to read but the mood has to strike and it hasn't yet.
I finished my polar nonfiction book, Labyrinth of Ice, which I loved. Just started The Space Between Worlds — ufcasey, I think you recommended that one?
QOTW: Only counting books that are actually mine, probably 10 or so? I don’t buy very many books — usually just books I’ve already read and want to reread or something I want to read right away (like my polar exploration books each winter). We have a pretty large book collection among the three of us in our home, and many of those I will never read.
Earlier this week I finished The Night Country. I enjoyed it but it was not as good as the first book.
Now I am reading Shit, Actually by Lindy West. Each chapter is a hilarious takedown of a different movie. Definitely a good choice for this week.
QOTW: I don't think I own any physical books that I have not read. I read almost exclusively on Kindle and the books on my shelves are all ones that I've read and enjoyed enough to keep.
I’ve finished two so far this year, and have probably consumed another few books’ worth of news this week... but I digress.
A Children’s Bible - Lydia Millet. It was climate fiction about a group of children, with sharp metaphors to the actual Bible (though the book was not religious itself). I thought it was really good, haunting in its prescience, and suspect it will stay with me for awhile. I’d recommend it. The Guest List - Lucy Foley. This one was a total page turner for me, but I have not thought that much about it since I tore through it.
I’ve also started Hidden Valley Road and Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows.
QOTW: I think I only own one book I have yet to read: a signed copy of Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. I have the two I’m reading, and then another batch of nine either in the house or at the library I need to pick up. Then the pressure is on to read before they’re due back and more holds come in, especially if I can’t renew.
I read Paperback Crush, which is a look at young adult fiction in the 80s and 90s. Such a fun walk down memory lane! I also finished Outlawed, which is a feminist Western, and I really liked it.
QOTW: There are about 20 physical books in my house that I haven’t read yet, but about 10 are from my BFF. She doesn’t want them after she reads them, so they go to me. I typically pass them on too, but I’ll count them for purposes of this question!
I read: - Nudge by Richard Thaler: 3 stars - The End of Her by Shari Lapena: 2.5 stars - Cousins by Karen M McManus: 3 stars
Currently reading Caste and I will start The Guest List this week.
QOTW: 2 maybe and I have zero plans to read them. I should donate them. I stopped buying physical books a while ago. I don’t enjoy rereading most books so I’m better off using to the library. I only buy books I want to pass onto friends or classics I want to read with my kids.
The Meaning of Mariah Carey by Mariah Carey and Michaela angela Davis
Little Cruelties by Liz Nugent
QOTW:
Around 5 maybe? Sometimes I get a physical ARC I’m not super excited about or I pick up a used book I can’t find at the library but I really prefer kindle reading so I tend to put off reading physical books and always prioritize library books.

I finished The Worst Best Man and The Peacock Emporium.
I think I have 3. Two are part of a series that I have no interest in reading. And the third is a friend's dissertation that I bought in support, but never have the brain power to read. I read mostly library books on my Kindle, so don't keep many physical books around.
Since New Year I've finished The Sun Down Motel by Simone St James and Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell. I gave Sun Down Motel 5* and Invisible Girl 4*; liked them both a lot. I might read more Lisa Jewell since they seem like quick reads that are fun by not too heavy.

Mediocre by Ijeoma Oluo 5* highly recommend! The Farm 2* Ladies Who Punch 4*
QOTW: I have less than 5. I don't like reading paper books anymore so most of my reading is ebook and audiobook. I probably have around 150 ebooks that are unread. I buy books when they are on sale or free.
