Our kitchen chairs and counter stools are painted wood and a huge PITA to keep clean. Any ideas on something I could apply to them to make them easier to wipe clean? Wipe-on poly maybe? It’s almost like they don’t have a protective finish anymore, just the paint.
I’m not anxious to replace them, dd (8) is still kind of messy. I already ditched the cushions. Most chairs I like have upholstery so I’d rather make these work a few more years.

When I was painting our dining table top, the paint store recommended some kind of cabinet paint. It took forever to dry, but it seems to do a great job wiping clean, and I can scrub it when necessary without damage as well. Maybe a topcoat of something like that would work?
dr.girlfriend, that's a good idea, I'll take a look at that! I don't mind doing a bit of work; I want to get a few more years out of these then get what I really want.
I’ve seen people who use the Annie Sloan chalk paint to paint furniture always seal it with a wax, I assume to protect the finish but maybe it makes it easier to wipe clean?
I painted my kitchen table and some bathroom shelves last summer. Sherwin Williams recommended Emerald for this job. They said to wait a week before you used the surface so it can cure. So far, so good.
