Does your LVP run under your kitchen cabinets? We are in the middle of kitchen Reno and our contractor is installing LVP all the way to wall but we read online that it should not be installed under cabinets because the weight of the cabinet keeps it from floating and it can buckle. What do you say?

If it is being glued down it is probably ok under the cabinets. But if it is floating it should not go under the cabinets because of potential buckling
We are going through this right now actually. DH called the manufacturer and since it's a floating floor (we aren't gluing), the cabinets must go in first.
I can't remember whether the LVP goes around or under the cabinets in my dad's kitchen, but I would think around would be preferable. Otherwise it would be tough to replace flooring independently of cabinets. I know our house (1985) has original cabinets but is on its 2nd kitchen floor.
Cabinets first, then floor. In our case, we put in custom cherry cabinets which we expect to far exceed the life of the LVP. We want to be able to change the floors down the road, post destructive kid phase.
A friend is doing a full kitchen reno right now because of this... they bought the house 2 years ago and the tile in the kitchen is just too slippery. Everyone falls and my friend actually fell and broke her tailbone. They had someone out to get a quote on replacing the floors, BUT the flooring went under the cabinets. They were going to have to rip out the cabinets just to replace the floors. It was getting pricey and they just decided if they were going to tear the whole kitchen apart for new floors, they might as well replace everything and not put back the old cabinets. So, I would say cabinets first to avoid this.
Our cabinets were installed first then our LVP. My brother who is a general contracting foreman said the same thing you read online - floating LVP cannot go under cabinets or it will buckle over time.
Thank you so much everyone. I pushed back on my contractor and they will be pulling up the floors along the wall and install the cabinets first. I don’t understand how they did not know this. Or maybe it’s just easier but my confidence in them is definitely shaken and I’m going be very watchful as this project moves forward.

My contractors new plan is to go ahead and install the cabinets on the already installed new LVP and then cut it under the cabinet to separate it from the floor.
