I cannot believe my Dd will be 6 this month. Her main gift will be redoing her closet but I’m stumped for other ideas. (Maybe 2-3 gifts to open). Is there something that your kids still love from the holidays?
My dd’s favorite shows is wild kratts, lion guard and Martha speaks. She loves Zoey & Sassafras books. She falls hard for things then moves on to the next.
Experience gifts are out this year and I feel like we are loaded up with arts supplies/toys/outdoor equipment because of covid.
ETA- after reading today’s thread maybe I can buy her a HBB 😂. She is 48 inches and 50lbs.

I always recommend legos because even at my age I think they are great toys for so many ages. They have Disney ones, lego friends, Harry Potter, and many other themes.

Not super exciting, but DD2 likes the Martha Speaks books— they are chapter books, but they have illustrations on most pages. Also Mercy Watson books, which maybe have a similar vibe.
Maybe jigsaw puzzles? My DDs like those, or games.

DD’s (5.5) favorite thing from Christmas is her cozy beanbag chair from Land’s End. She’s also a big fan of Uno, Trouble, Charades for Kids, The Floor is Lava if she likes games. Also an interactive Leapfrog Globe. Anything she needs for summer? We also got her a boogie board, flippers and a snorkel she’s been begging for.

My DS just turned 7 and is a huge animal and Wild Kratts lover. He loves Playmobil animals. Would she like that? T Also, there is a Wild Kratts game. Personally, I think it’s poorly conceived but both my boys (4 and 7) love it. I think just because it’s Wild Kratts.
If you don’t mind playing games, Ticket to Ride. My 5yo (almost 6) loves it and beats my 8 yo 50% of the time. They play 2-3 times a day during virtual school breaks.

I have been avoiding legos! (We have duplos, plus plus blocks & magnatiles) ) I guess my youngest (3.5) is old enough now to have them around the house now. Great idea.

Oh! Good to know. I actually bought this for my niece for Christmas and ended up giving her something else. I still have it in the closet and will give it to dd for her birthday.

Umm how did I not know that they made Martha speaks chapter books! Off to look on Amazon. We have the picture books already.

The leapfrog globe looks like something she would like! She does need a bigger bike and I was planning on getting this summer. We could just do it early

Lego kits Kiwi crate The Narwhal and Jelly books are a favorite here right now Magazine subscription- we get every level of Ranger Rick and Highlights High 5 Kiwi crate subscription
My kid saved Christmas/ pet sitting/ etc money and got a switch, so for birthday he just wants video games. I feel like that’s a teenager thing not a six year old thing!!! Ack.

Many of them are out of print, I think. We discovered them at the library and then I bought some used.
The leapfrog globe is huge and hard to store, plus it requires too much adult help in my opinion. (It *is* well-done and maybe he'll grow into it... TBD)
DS looooves games and Ticket To Ride is a favorite, so +1 to that rec.
There is a fun book we got from the library: Make This (although that requires some parental help, too).
I think outdoor toys are a good idea. We got some gigantic inflatable balls that both kids (and grown ups, if I'm honest) love to play with.
Honestly switch games are the best value here because my son can spend hours on them and they take up no space.
My daughter would love craft stuff but my son never really has.
Domino set with some accessories from Bulk Dominos and those are a lot of fun.
M&D scientist dress up set - comes with easy experiment ideas.
cricketwife what playmobil sets do you recommend? We don’t have any right now (well we have a handmedown airplane)
My kids love Playmobil horses. Last spring they were super into the show Spirit Riding Free and lllovvveed the Spirit Playmobil sets. Now they're more into the pony farm they got for Christmas.
They're getting a pet hotel for their upcoming 7th birthday.
