I know some of you are still in snow, but you can at least dream about spring clothes with me, right?
I’ve basically not bought anything much in a year. My wardrobe is super duper sad. I’m hoping to pick up some easy/comfy clothes that can be appropriate for WFH and hopefully dressed up enough to get by in my office that I’m dreaming will be a business casual environment when we return. (It’s totally casual right now - I just go in in jeans and whatever, usually my converse, and there’s not really anyone there to judge.)
Also trying to find some casual shoes that are good for casual walking, flexible enough to do the climbing wall at the playground, and look okay with skinny jeans (that I refuse to part with).
I need a ton of new clothes. I’ve lost 16.5lbs since Jan 4th. I have 3.5 to go. I just got 2 new pairs of jeans and I’m not sure if I’m keeping them. Otherwise, I’m not sure?? We don’t really have much of a spring here. It goes from snowing to 90° in like a weekend... so I really just need new summer stuff i guess...
Disclaimer, I don’t go here buuuut, I bought these shoes in both the green and gray. They’re pretty much all I wear. They are super comfortable and I can walk all day in them.
I keep thinking I'd like Rothy's, but haven't pulled the trigger yet because they're expensive.
Spring here is really more like mud season, so I generally still wear boots a lot. Once it warms up more, I wear Toms or Chucks as my out running errands type shoe.
I have these in the grey flannel and love them. I wear them all fall and then again in the spring. Super comfy and look cute with skinny jeans, as long as I wear low socks. The lighter color would be cute for spring in warmer climates. www.dsw.com/en/us/product/dr.-scholls-freestep-sneaker/428734?activeColor=021
Semi-related: I finally broke down and ordered some ThirdLove bras. I'm obsessed already. I have a really hard time finding bras that fit. I'm generally a 32 or 34 C, but breastfeeding twins destroyed any sense of shape I had so I always end up with weird gaping and bad fit. I've been wearing push up bras from Pink lately and they're just not great but they're the best fit I could find. The ThirdLove bras fit perfectly! And the fabric is really soft and comfy too.
I pretty much live in maxi dresses once it gets warm. And Crocs sandals, which are incredibly comfy and I get compliments on them all the time. I promise they don’t look like ugly Crocs. Like these are a lot like a pair I have. Crocs Women's Swiftwater Sandal, Lightweight and Sporty Sandals for Women www.amazon.com/dp/B07H87XX36/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_H4YYX864SCS1HXVZY9ZT?psc=1
I also love wide legged mid calf length pants. It’s hot here starting around May. So those are better than shorts in terms of looking professional without being stiflingly hot.
I went shopping this weekend for spring clothes and found nothing that looks right on me. Sigh. Then I went to DSW because I thought “shoes will never let me down” but they did.
I bought a lot last spring during lockdown as there were a lot of sales. A lot from Old Navy because Loft had many items out of stock and some stitch fix.
Clark sandals, ASICS are my footwear go to. I bought more fancy sweatshirt type gray with lace, navy with a pattern, red jeans from loft, not a fan of the Rockstar jeans I bought. A few terry stripe shirts, Victoria secret leggings, chambray shirt, some sleeveless tops for summer. Joggers from Amazon more for winter- they are hot. I have the yoga dress pants but not sure I’m sold on them.
I've bought almost nothing in a year. However, I'm going in to the office today and I have on a super cute new pair of leppard print flats with khakis and a jean jacket and feeling pretty fabulous. Considering my usual attire is nike sweatpants, random sweatshirt, and socks.
shakinros, which Rothy's do you have and which size? I may be willing to take them off your hands if you happen to have giant feet..
twinmomma, pull the trigger on the Rothy's. I have a discount code for you if you want it. I've replaced all of my work shoes with them. Including the brand new Kate Spades I bought and wore twice... They're fabulous. I even buy them for DD. (Expensive, but I can wash them, she wears them frequently, and they are so durable.)
I haven't bought myself anything new. I would love some new spring/summer dresses but everything I've seen is flowers. What is with flowers? I hate wearing flowers. I need to layer during spring/summer because mornings can still be chilly.
I think I have too many clothes already. I'm excited to wear all my sundresses and skirts again once we leave the house more and travel this summer.
I'm excited to take DD shopping for some spring clothes soon. She has a body type that really benefits from trying things on to see if they're flattering (like her mom...). I think Old Nay here has its fitting rooms open, so we'll try to find some time for that soon.
Can I ask you all where you buy swimsuits? I need some new ones. I wear them almost daily in the summer because I run the neighborhood summer camp as we're one of the only houses with a pool. My suits are old and need to be burned. I want to start over.
My stomach is a mess, so I prefer to have it covered. Also like the extra coverage because I'm a pasty white Irish lady with a history of skin cancer in the family. Typically at the beach I do a bikini top, skort or swim shorts, and a rashguard over the top. But by the pool I'd like maybe a tankini that isn't so mum-sy.0
I also hate my upper thighs so I've spent my entire life hiding those. Even in college when I weighed 110lbs at 5'5" and I ran many miles a day and spent a lot of time in the gym; even in high school when running cross country and playing basketball every day - upper thighs were hidden in a swimsuit.
So... any advice about where to look and types of suits that might work?

mae0111, I wear tankinis (with built-in underwire if you need it, I do) and one pieces from Figleaves. They don’t ship to the US directly anymore but you can get their stuff at next.us.
I’ve also heard good things about Lands End’s tankinis.
I’ve gotten some of my fav swimsuits at Venus.com. Please overlook the fact that their non-swimsuits look like hooker clothes. I swear I don’t wear them. I don’t love my Lands End swimsuits. I have big boobs and I feel like they squish me too much, and not in a “this sports bra offers great support” way but in a “Good lord, lady, how much boob can you honestly expect one swimsuit to hold” way. And that’s the top marketed to D cup women!

Can anyone provide me with advice about the sizing of Rothy's? Would you say they run true to size? I am generally a 6.5 so I'm guessing that size would fit ok?
I used to be a 6 (before kids) but I would say now I'm more of a 6.5.... I want to try Rothy's but wish i could try them on first!
mae0111 , I got my swimsuit from swim demo swimdemo.com/category/hot-sale/product/the-victoria-off-shoulder-one-piece-swimsuit. But it's a one piece, and I haven't tried their tankinis. I too was getting tired of my Lands End ones. I look like an old lady in them or yes the boobs were smushed or the tankinis that are loose, the water would get in and they would bubble up.

Go with a 7. I’m the same. 6 pre kids. 6.5 after. 7 in Rothys.
soccermama, I got up a half size in general. If you order the points, you'll want to go up a full size. They will not stretch out over time, so if the fit is off, exchange. Their exchange/return policy is great.

mae0111, I bought some Boden swimsuits this year, and am excited. They are all cup sized swim (I’m a dd and need that). Both bikini tops and a tankini tops. I also bought the more coverage bottoms, which look decent. They are kind of pricey, so I shopped the mix and match clearance section.
