We need to replace the carpet in our house (I know. Hallways and main rooms are mostly original hard wood, but there is carpet in the bedrooms and the family room, which we like).
Any recommendations for carpet for dogs (not shedders, but do have accidents from time to time) and @@@ small children?
There are so many options out there, and I don’t even know what to look for.
We have berber with flecks, and it's beige which hides some of the golden retriever fluff as well as it can. The flecks are good.
We're hopefully going to be moving in the foreseeable future and I'd like less carpet in the new house. Pet accidents are a big reason why. But a professional carpet cleaner can work wonders. We had a guy in who salvaged our living room carpet last fall after a pet accident that I just couldn't completely get the smell out myself.

We like our plush carpet with a good carpet pad underneath, which makes a big difference. No pets, but two small kids and it's been fine. Stains easily come out with our spray stain remover - either Folex or Stanley Steemer work well. Stanley Steemer also handles our occasional deep cleanings, which keeps our carpet looking good.
