The idea of going on a cruise has me 🤢 (that is a queasy emoji in case it doesn’t render correctly). But my adult dream has been to take my kids on the Norwegian Fjords Disney Cruise when I turn 40 (July 2022). Would you go then? Or should I plan an “Even More Fun at 41” trip instead?
My plan is to wait and see for a few months, but if things aren’t looking great by this fall, I’ll start planning something else. We will need a whole year to save for something this big.
Yes. Royal Caribbean is going to start cruising out of the Bahamas in June. In order to sail, all adults have to have proof of vaccination and kids have to have a negative Covid test. I'm sure that will be the industry standard for quite a while.
As cruise lines start cruising in the next few months, pay attention to how things are going. That will probably give you some good data to make your decision.
I'm booked on a cruise in October 2021 and hoping to be able to go.
You didn't ask for this part, but in my opinion Disney cruises aren't worth the extra money. I've done 2 Disney cruises and 9 Royal Caribbean cruises (I've also spent 7 full weeks at Disney World in the last 5 years, so a big Disney fan). Disney cruises are a lot of fun, but not worth 2-3x the cost of other cruise lines. If that is your dream then by all means go for it and you will have a great time, but if you want to spend less I'd research other options.
Right now I'll say yes, but only with excellent travel insurance. Who would have thought that we'd still be in full masks this time last year? I'm hedging my bets on what 2022 is going to bring.
Possibly? I think by then most people will be vaccinated and I have heard a couple cruise lines say they will require crew and passengers to be vaccinated. It that case yes - assuming the place we were stopping also had access to vaccines
Yep. We just rebooked (for the second time) the summer Med cruise we were supposed to take last year. At a minimum my husband and I will both be vaccinated, and DCL was fastidious about cleaning *before* COVID, so I feel 100% safe.
In recalculating the price, I nearly stroked out, and I think I may just do a couple’s trip to Scotland instead.
I will do the cruise someday, but that seems awfully steep to spend on a four-year-old who won’t remember it.
Or maybe H and I will do an RC Norwegian fjords cruise, and we’ll do a four-day Caribbean one with the kids. It’s so hard to figure out the right ages. I want them to be old enough to do cool excursions but young enough to still feel the Disney magic!

We've cruised with our son since he was 4, but didn't do anything beyond typical beach destinations until he was 6, almost 7, and could get around on his own and understand what we were doing.
Yes. I am currently scheduled to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise at the end of August (of this year). I have a feeling it will be canceled, but if it happens then we're definitely going.
We are planning a 2022 cruise. I will be the dissenter though and say that I don’t think Disney cruises are worth the additional money. The last one we were on the food was mediocre and the service wasn’t any better than other cruise lines we’ve been on. The only thing that makes them better is the characters,

I'm way late on this after a long spring break. I did the DCL Norway cruise in 2018 and absolutely loved it.
I want to be able to cruise again, but definitely not ready for it yet. We had a huge ABD river cruise canceled last year, and I'm personally not confident about European travel being open and easy even in 2022. I'm hoping to rebook and do my trip in 2023.
I think you may be safer for a More Fun at 41 Fjord cruise. I can't tell you how much I loved the Fjord trip. You'll love it!
We had a “big family trip” planned for February 2020 and during the lead-up and planning stages had a cruise trip on the table. We did not opt for it because our booking options were limited and ended-up with the a great all-inclusive in Jamaica. Which was lovely. On the last day I the island, the Jamaican government refused port entry to a cruise ship because a person on board had a fever and flu-like symptoms. So, as people were trapped all over the world on cruise ships, I felt very close to being one of those people and watched their plight unfold in real-time. I will never want to cruise again.
