Hi all - I'm a newbie when it comes to skincare but I'm working on getting myself together 😃. I am 35.
I do not wear makeup on a daily basis - really never. I have relatively well behaved skin although it's not been exposed to many products so anticipating reactions is pretty much a crap shoot. My current morning routine is a moisturizer (neutragina hydro boost gel cream extra dry) and sunscreen. For night I do a lip mask and a night moisturizer (neutragina deep moisturizer night cream). I am currently working on introducing a cleanser at night.
Once I have the cleanser down pat I'd like to do something for fine lines (I guess this is what you would call it). I sleep on my side and my face gets smooshed into my pillow. I wake up with these creases kind of below my eyes and a bit to the side. They go away during the day but I've noticed they are deeper and take longer to disappear these days. I am trying to be more mindful about sleeping on my back and considering a silk pillowcase. But I'd also like to think about a serum or something to help with this. Any recommendations?
For the sleep wrinkles, I'd recommend switching to a silk pillowcase, it's better for your skin and your hair.
I personally like a lot Clinique products, they work really well with my skin. They have a 3 step system and I use step 1 - cleanser, and step 2 - toner and use both of these morning and night. For my moisturizer during the day I like The Ordinary. At night, after cleansing and toning, I use Strivectin SD Advanced on my spots with wrinkles (around my eyes), I use Shisedo Eye Cream, The Ordinary Lactic Acid on the rest of my face, and then use the Clinique Smart Night moisturizer on top of every thing else.
That said, this skincare routine is relatively new for me, but so far, I'm very happy with the results and my skin feels and looks amazing.
You might want to incorporate a retinol into your night routine. I'm currently using the one from Drunk Elephant and so far my skin isn't irritated (use about 3x per week). I do use a heavier moisturizer over it. On the nights I'm not using the retinol, I use Farmacy Honeymoon Glow to help with exfoliation. My skin turns read easily, and these two products don't irritate my skin.
I bought the Paula's Choice 1% retinol to try after the Drunk Elephant one is gone.
I also use a satin pillowcase because there's no way I'm ever going to train myself to sleep on my back.
