We’re building a new house, and have the option to go with builder supplied light fixtures or supply our own. The house is supposedly a “modern farmhouse” (aren’t they all right now?), which is fine, but I’m not sure I like some of the fixtures.
I’m going to try to add pictures to my post. This is not our house, but same floor plan and same/similar fixtures we’ll get if we let the builder supply them. I like the hallway fixture fine, but don’t like the entryway chandelier. Would something like the chandelier pic below “go” with the other fixtures/house? Part of me says it doesn’t matter, if we like it, it’s fine, but decorating is definitely not one of my skills, so I wanted to crowd source a bit. Thanks!
I think you have more leeway for a feature light Ike a chandelier than some other fixtures. I like the glass ball one myself, and if you like it you should do it. I’m also assuming you are building this house for yourself and planning on staying.
It feels very formal and doesn’t go but you have to love it. If you like it I would get it. I’ve put things in my house that don’t necessarily go, like the wallpaper in my mud room, but it makes me happy to look at it.
The glass ball chandelier feels too formal and busy for the foyer.
What about a more streamlined ring chandelier?
I think I just feel something about the “look it’s candles (but it’s not)” look. Our old house was built in 1995, so it had the typical brass “candle” type chandelier in the entryway, and these others just feel like the bronze/black version of the same. Does that make any sense?

Will the builder give you credit toward your own fixtures? If not that sounds like kind of a bad deal for you. If that's the case, I would let them supply the fixtures and then you can change them out at your leisure but not make it something you have to choose in a hurry when you have so many other likely expenses.
What about something like this? I’m drawn to interesting lighting, and think this is a fun mix of crystal & modern farmhouse style. I’m also aware that it’s very taste specific and many might hate it!

They will give us a credit, but since they get discounts, the credit for their entryway light likely won’t be enough to buy a new entryway light, if that makes sense? So we would pay some out of pocket, for sure. I keep staring at the ones they’ll give us, trying to determine if I really feel strongly enough to spend more money on it. I’m leaning towards just taking what they give us, and if there’s any we hate after living there for a while, we’re could always change them. Though, I do feel more pressure with the entryway chandelier, since it’s not trivial to get to there and switch it for another fixture.

That is really cool! I can’t see pricing with the link, though.

I am also not a fan of the wrought-iron-fake-candle look. I would be tempted to spend over your alottment on the foyer chandelier as a focal point, and then keep the builder basic in other areas of the house for the moment unless you can get something you like better that is similarly-priced. For the foyer, how about:

ktw ,I really liked that third one too, and it's only $261! You might have to make sure the size is big enough though to make a good impact in the space. We have matte gold accents (lamps, curtain rod, picture frames) in our modern-farmhouse-y bedroom and I really love how they look.
Your room is gorgeous! You think the matte gold is ok with the other oil rubbed bronze fixtures? We’re actually also doing gold pulls in the kitchen, while the faucet and light fixtures will be oil rubbed bronze, so I was already wondering about that.

Mixing fixtures in really in right now. It’s not my style but it is a thing.
