He knows he got one this year, it was direct deposited into his banking account. He's not sure about last year. He doesn't pay a lot of attention to his bank account, my sister handles it for him.
My sister, who is on his account, looked and didn't see any deposits from last year but she is going to check again today.
I know I can set up an account with IRS.gov, but we have to go the letter in the mail route to get the code to verify his ID (he doesn't have a cell phone in his name, its in my BIL name since he works for Verizon and besides, my dad doesn't do text messages LOL). So this will take 5-10 days.
Is it safe to assume if the stimmy for this year was direct deposited, that any from last year would have been as well? In which case it should be easy to tell from his bank statements what he got.
Is there any website besides IRS.gov where you can check on this? DH is trying to do his taxes and if he didn't get it, it appears that he can get a refund check so we are trying to be 20000% sure if he got anything last year or not.

My first 2 were direct deposited and the irs site kept telling me the third one would be too and they listed the last 4 of my checking account. But that changed for some reason and I got a paper check this week. No reason why.

I was going to say similar - my mom's first two were paper checks. Hers this year was a direct deposit.
That's very helpful, thanks. He said he didn't remember getting a check. I guess I'll just have to wait to get the paper in the mail and open an account for him at IRS.gov to be certain.
I had to do the same thing for my ILs a few weeks ago b/c I'm doing their taxes. They didn't file 2019 taxes yet (ugh) so they didn't get the 2nd and 3rd payment; hopefully they can get a big refund on their 2020 taxes. Anyway, I think for one of them, I was actually successful with inputting my cell phone number as the verification (maybe because we have the same last name?), but for the other, we had to wait for the letter in the mail.
