XH and I take turns claiming DD on taxes. I claimed her in 2019 so I received the first two stimulus payments. XH claimed her in 2020 but he made too much so he didn't get anything for her on this 3rd round of stimulus payments. He just asked me if there was any way I could get the $1400 for her. Is there any way to do this or not since he claimed her as a dependent in 2020?

I think the third one might be refundable on 2021 taxes like the other two were on 2020 taxes. I am hoping this is the case because I get to claim both my kids in 2021! My x said he never got any money for DD1 last year but I don't know if: a. He's lying, b. He makes too much money, or c. It went to his wife/2nd x wife because they may have filed jointly in 2019/2020. All a mystery.

Thanks I'll have to remember to look into that when I do my taxes next year

He would lose out on other child tax credits, although you could then get them. You’d need to agree how that would work. Would he expect a check for the whole amount? Since you’d need to amend and that would cost money, I’d recommend you split the stimulus equally and give him the tax credit. If sounds like it would be as hassle and I’d only do it if you put the agreement in writing and you have a good co-parenting relationship.
