I finally used my Southwest airlines credit yesterday and booked a flight to see my grandma and my aunt and her family in June! I am so excited. I saw them for a few hours in August 2019 when I went to pick up my grandma's car and drive it back here, but other than that it's been since 2018 that we've spent any time together. My grandma is 89 so it has been far too long to go without seeing her. I am so thankful for vaccinations, and for family that went out and got theirs as soon as they could.
I'm seeing my parents and my sister and her family next week, so overall I'm just really happy right now!

We’re taking a long weekend trip in June with the kids to our old college town. We managed to find an AirBnB with a pool. The area is in the middle of a ton of National and state parks, so we’ll do a lot of hiking and swimming. I started making trail lists, finding some restaurants to grab takeout from, breweries to pop by for a growler.
Man, I am so burnt out I am a pile of ashes. The thought of walking around outside with my kids and H and picking up a pizza in a city other than my own is fuckin’ thrilling.

Work has been so crazy the past year I felt guilty walking away from my computer at 6:30 last night and having dinner with my family. I got a new job in January of last year, and I can’t tell if this job is just insane or a lot of it is due to COVID, but I am burnt out. I am ready to start commuting at least a few days a week again to have some delineation between home and work life.
I'm currently listening to our company 1Q earnings call. It's such a kick in the teeth listening to how well we've been doing and yet our raises and bonuses were a total joke this year.
DD still hasn't pooped. I know she will eventually, hopefully, but we've been keeping her home from school and having her do virtual learning because I don't want her to get hit with a humongous, painful BM at school.
We've decided to host a Mother's Day Brunch. I'm looking forward to seeing my family. I miss them.
I have had this annoying dry cough for a few weeks (allergies..not covid. Yes, I am sure) and I am so tired of it. It makes me gag and even puke and keeps waking me up. None of the allergy meds seem to make any difference. WAHHHH.
I'm fully vaccinated! Today is my 2 week mark after my second shot. H's two-week day was last Friday. I'm going to try to convince him to go get good BBQ this weekend. That's not something we get for takeout so it's been forever.

I am a broken record on this but check in with your doctor. This sounds very much like allergy induced asthma. This is how it presents for my DD.
My surgery went well yesterday but I am in a lot more pain then I expected. Thank goodness for pain meds. The anesthesia made me sick. Swallowing is so difficult. I’m hoping today will be better than yesterday. Next pain meds in 15 minutes.

Hmm...interesting. I have spoken to my PCP about it. She recommended Claritin/Zyrtec/Allegra. They do absolutely nothing. Maybe I'll check back in.

The nighttime dry cough is the tell tale sign.
I swear by Xyzal for allergies. The others don't work for me. Before I found that, someone told me to take a Benadryl before bed to help with the cough and be able to sleep. That really did help. I still coughed during the day but the ability to sleep was so much better.
My ILs got me a very rugged, NMS leather briefcase for Christmas (after getting me a different rugged, NMS leather briefcase two years ago that I gave away) from Tecovas. I returned it for a gift card and have been waiting since then for their leather tote bag to come back in stock and it finally did today! Bonus is that the tote was 1/3 of the price so I can also get some other stuff to go with it.

Interesting! I've never heard this before. I've also never had allergies, but I had a weird issue similar to this for about a week, too. It was only at night or right upon waking and felt kind of like a post-nasal drip issue, though I was never congested. My throat was never sore, but I had an urge to swallow or clear my throat, which led to a dry cough sometimes. Does that sound similar or just like plain, ol' allergies? (I am part of a study and tested regularly, so I know it wasn't COVID.)

You probably need an inhaler at this point. I get this about once a winter and end up on an albuterol inhaler for a few days. It's magical. Ditto that you need to be seen at this point. ETA Sorry, I missed that you had already talked to your PCP. But I'd specifically ask about an inhaler to calm things down.
This is our second week of the girls having four days a week of in-person school. We are doing a weekly riding lesson. They both are doing swim lessons. DH's work travel schedule is looking more like pre-pandemic, in the coming six weeks. Life is creeping back toward some kind of normal, albeit masked and still avoiding things like indoor dining.
I am relieved and happy about these things, especially the in-person school. But somehow I also still get the willies when I think about it too much, like some combination of feeling like it's too good to be true and the rug is going to get yanked out from under us again, and also a little bit of wondering about risk and safety.
I dunno, sometimes it just strikes me what a difficult thing a pandemic is to navigate, mentally and emotionally. Like at the beginning and through most of it, it has been pretty clear what you should do -- avoid other people to the extent that you could, mask up, avoid crowds and travel, etc., etc. Even when state guidance varied, you could often look at across-the-board recommendations and figure out whether you should or shouldn't be doing what a particular state allowed. This state of more-things-are-becoming-lower-risk-especially-if-you're-vaccinated, more-things-are-opening-up-but-everything-is-not-completely-normal-and-things-are-still-bad-globally, I feel like is a lot harder.
I go to get my second vaccine dose on Saturday. I'm almost there! I've been looking at things like baseball tickets or maybe an outdoor concert at a venue with pod-based seating arrangements. I like the idea of those things, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm comfortable with yet, and I guess it's just kind of going to be a case-by-case basis to figure that out.
Do you guys remember how I thought my sister was mad at me? She’s not! She’s moving 5 hours away because her husband got an amazing job and she didn’t know how to tell me . I found out awhile ago but couldn’t post because there are local posters who know her job and now she’s told her work I can say it here. My poor boys are so sad and this is yet another loss for them For all of us really but they don’t understand.
This is another check in the “sell the house, make a profit and get a cheaper house” column. We picked this neighborhood to be close to my mom, sister & in laws and now 2 of those are not a factor

I had to look it up because I wasn't sure what a rugged briefcase was. Oh my, it's too rugged even for my country self. I like their tote though.

Right? I don't consider myself super picky or fashionable, but I definitely lean toward cleaner lines. Even the models in the photos are all men. The one before was even worse. It looked like something you'd throw on a pack horse. It had buckles and everything. Anyway, I felt bad because it's clearly high quality, but knowing how much it cost I would have felt worse letting it sit. At least this way I'll be using the gift.

I got my first shot today. The paramedic who administered it was so gentle I wondered if they even gave me a shot lol. Trying to pound water, and I've taken ibuprofen. I shouldn't have said anything to DH as he's mad now "no one told him to do that months ago. Well one I told you MANY times to take meds every 4 hours (pretty sure he did). Anyway he's been fully vaccinated for months so relax.
I blocked the day after my second shot in anticipation. I kinda wish it ws on a Thurs. or Fri, but at this point I just need the shot.
And that's interesting about the allergy cough. I usually get that every year, but agree nothing fights it. I take allergy meds right before bed as I read it kicks in before the morning pollen really kicks off.

Pilsy, it could also be GERD/acid reflux. When I had it I used to wake up in the night coughing and choking sometimes from it. It tends to be worst when you're lying flat.

I called my employee that had a stroke, just to check in on her and encourage her to take her time coming back. Her husband answered the phone and asked if I could please yell at her to take it easy lol. So I did, as gently as possible.

I got my second shot yesterday. My only side effect is I am TIRED and my arm hurts a little. I got Pfizer and the lady administering the shot told me to drink at stay hydrated and drink gatorade. She was right. I have been chugging water and gatorade. I even woke up thirsty in the night multiple times.
I got an interview with that job I applied for. I don’t think I’ve had an interview in like 14, 15 years. Normally send over a portfolio or something and get hired and never speak to a person again lol A few times a client has flown me out to their headquarters but that was after I was working with them for a while.
Anyway, she emailed me around noon asking if I could interview this afternoon at 3. I emailed her back maybe 15 minutes later that I was free and haven’t heard back. Should I call? Was I supposed to call in the first place? She wasn’t clear if she meant in person or virtually. The shop is like 10 minutes away so either is fine for me. The job is supposed to be mostly virtual.
ETA I called and she wasn’t there lol
The woman who answered said it would probably be on the phone or maybe FaceTime and she’d text her for me. So, waiting and should probably at least get dressed in real people clothes.

I am lazy and unmotivated. I have some busy work to do so I'll focus on that and try to make progress on my real projects tomorrow.
Work sent an email about offering on-site vaccinations. They offered them at another site 2 months ago and now that 90% of us are vaccinated are finally offering them here.
