We flew to Sacramento this morning. As we were walking across the parking lot at the airport I tripped on the cement and went flying. I scraped my arm and hit both my knees on the pavement. Luckily I wasn’t wearing shorts! I can tell everything is going to be sore tomorrow. Let’s hope this isn’t a sign of the rest of the trip! DS1 got into the Math class we were hoping for next year. It’s a class to help kids that are struggling in Math. We do need to decide whether to have him take Spanish as well, which he struggled with this year as well. His counselor said kids who take this Math class usually don’t take a language along with it. It I don’t want him to be behind when he starts high school. We have to decide what to do by Monday.
We've been in this house for almost 9 years and I'm finally prioritizing getting rid of the awful builder-basic boob lights on the second floor. I have a new light for the laundry room, and am going to buy new ceiling light for our closet and bathroom. I'm about to buy ceiling fans for the kids' bedrooms and the guest room. I need to keep shopping for lights I like for the loft/playroom area. Bye bye boob lights!!
I have an awful habit of buying art on vacation (nothing $$$ but things we like) and never hanging it. I finally ordered like 30 frames so I can frame it all! If we don’t enjoy it, who will? Our walls are very solid and it’s hard to hang things on them so that was a big part of it but really, it’s absurd how many pieces I had. A couple have to be six years old.
There are a few that are odd sizes I might have to send out but most are standard enough.
My mom needs a total knee replacement so that’s another 2 days I’ll need to take off work in July/August to go out there and help her initially. My team is very chill and my company really promotes actually taking your time, but since we already had a week trip planned over July 4th I feel bad coming in hot with all these vacation requests lol.
Good luck to your mom!
I start a new assignment in the beginning of June and I’m off for a week each in June, July, and August. Oops!

I've been in an interim role for 17 months (!!) and it finally got approved yesterday as a permanent appointment. With a substantial pay increase. And it's my birthday weekend. YAY.
I'm test driving a car tomorrow so I might also be getting myself some new wheels for my b-day.
I had 2 interviews yesterday, and both went well. One I like a smidge more, but of course that's the one with a longer commute (45min on a hybrid schedule, vs 15-20min but in the office every day). The job I like better is also likely to pay better out of the gate, whereas the one closer to home will most likely pay less with a higher cost on medical/dental benefits. At this point I'm just hoping they are both going to end at the offer stage at around the same time so I don't have to hold off a sure thing for a maybe. Also cart >>>>>>>> horse - as I'm so fond of doing.
I also just realized that we booked a beach trip with H's family - but we picked the latter half of the week and its the week after Father's Day. I know we're not going to want to drive to my parents 4hrs away on a Sat/Sun and then drive the 5.5hrs to the beach that Wed. I could see Dad the weekend after (their place is between the beach and our house), but Mom was already giving me a bit of crap about how Dad "needs" to be spoiled a little on Father's Day...ugh. My sister lives states away, so its not like she'll be able to come in to town either. Poop.
redheadk, I feel you. We took a trip for my birthday but I did all the planning. DH did not get me anything. He did not get me a gift almost a decade ago so I told him that I want a gift for my birthdays (no other days needed) so I don't know if he (1) forgot, (2) thought going to dinner or the trip was my gift, or (3) did not want to repeat xmas where he grabbed some random things from my amazon list that I was saving for other people, not me.
Not that this solves the problem of your DH gift giving skills, but on amazon you can make a private shopping list that no one sees for things you want to buy for others. Then your wishlist can be public.

mofongo, we have a friend with a pressure washer. I asked DH to ask them if we can pay to rent theirs. Our deck and back side of the house need it bad lol.
My insurance only covers an eye exam every two years. The eye place told me to have my PCP put in a referral for an eye exam, then I can have one once a year. I'm almost at two years since my last one, but making all the calls so that I don't have to wait until Sept for an apt. The PCP office doesn't know about this option and seems put off by the extra work (I don't blame them). After all this I've also spent more time making calls than I would at the exam. 'Merica health insurance!
We've had my FILs dog staying with us for almost a month now. It is raining, has been for days, and he took a really messy poop on top of my iPhone charging cord in the living room. It was behind a chair so I could smell it but not find it. I had to toss the cord, I tried cleaning it but failed. He also keeps trying to sit on top of the vertical cushions of our living room furniture, ruining them, so I had to take all the cushions off and hide them.
We have our own 3 high-maintenance dogs: 1 16-year-old blind shih tzu, 1 neurotic shih tzu that is afraid of wet surfaces, and a terrier that has oral tumors and can only eat soft food so I am making dog food weekly for him.
I'm over it and just want all the dogs to go away from like 3 days.
I feel your pain. I went through an “Adopt ALL the Animals!!!” phase when I graduated college, and 4/5 are still with us 16 years later... I basically never want a pet again after these 4 pass on! College me was not thinking of 38 year old me with 4 kids and a full time job.

We had quite a few things that needed framing a while back, and I remembered that someone here had recommended picturesframes.com, so I gave it a shot. We have used them for standard and custom sized frames, and have been really happy with them. They have sales or free shipping frequently...so much more reasonably priced than our custom framer, but they look expensive.
I am sure our custom framing guy misses us, but we do still go to him now and then. He offers some special frames that we can't get online.

The non-profit I'm a board member for has been meeting by zoom since april 2020. In our meeting earlier this week we decided our next meeting will be in person. As far as I can determine, we're all vaxxed, but regardless, we'll be outside. I AM SO EXCITED! WHY is it not yet time yet for this meeting?!?!? Usually i kind of dread these meetings, but I cannot wait to spend a couple hours talking to people IN PERSON somewhere other than my home! It's only 2 weeks away, but I'm impatient. Ha!
It's supposed to be 72 degrees out tomorrow, which would be perfect for an outdoor bike ride if my back wasn't all messed up. :: sob ::
I've also developed covid-arm again from my second shot. This time it developed much faster, and my injection site hurts more than the first shot, so it's more annoying than the first time around.

I'm kind of hoping DH doesn't insist on another dog when 2 of these pass. I'm the one that the work falls on. I would miss having dogs but my house would be so clean and travel would be so easy.
Unpopular opinion, soccer mom wine night, or really any kind of specialty mom, wife by profession etc. night sounds like a layer in Dantes Inferno...
It’s not actually named that or anything. It’s just the women that are my “friends” bc our kids are in soccer together. It’s just friends getting together.

How cold is too cold to swim in a pool? From the digital temp gauge (that we have a camera on, we don't live at the property full time), it says 72 or so. I read that 78-82 is ideal. It's going to be 90 this weekend, and the pool gets full sun all day long. Will I be able to swim in my pool this weekend w/o feeling like I need to be wearing a wetsuit? (This question is brought to you by the fact that I am a new pool owner.)

If you’re like me, you won’t want to get in much below 80°. Even 80 feels pretty darned chilly at first but then you adapt and it feels great. Under 80, you feel like a popsicle and if you’re like me, get a headache. 72, you may as well swim with polar bears. My kids won’t even get in at that cold.

I figured, and understand your passing on it even if everyone was vaccinated. In my husband's profession there's pressure to spend lots of time together outside of work, even just the wives. I also know mom's are "supposed" to want to gather and drink wine by common thread of kids play sports, dance, go to school whatever together it just sounds annoying. I guess if you're an extrovert maybe?

The getting f*cked up sounds fun though lol
Ooh I gotcha, then I agree with you. LOL. I’m 800% an introvert. I like doing things one on one. Like with ONE of the moms.

So if anyone is interested in an update on my no no place, the doctor ran everything past an oncologist and they are pretty sure she knows what it is so she's going to handle the surgery herself. That's the good news. Bad news, I still get to have surgery in the place no one wants to have surgery. There is no WebMD entry for my thing but this is what she thinks it is.

That is not the answer I want. I appreciate the heads-up, though, LHR. Polar bears, no thanks.
We are toying w/ the idea of getting a pool heater. I really want to do solar, but I have to wait until I have the time and mental headspace to do the research.
redheadk i feel you so hard on this. My BD and our anniversary are next week. I gave DH a list of 12 different things i actually want. Instead, he wants to surprise me. Yay! That means a bunch of random shit i have to either pretend to like, return, or just cry over. How fun for me! Why can't they just take direction? I get that I'm really hard to buy for, which is why i provide a list of itens i actually fucking want! I feel like such a bitch on this topic because he is an awesome husband in nearly every other way, but this bugs me.

We live in Florida and even here we still need a pool heater because between the months of November til about April-ish it’s too cold to swim. My parents’ pool doesn’t have one but I wish it did!

circa1978 - that link ins’t working for me, and you know I’m interested. Sorry for all of your current issues:( My no no place will be thinking of yours, seems they will both have had a tough year!
LOL. It's called "hydrocele of the canal of nuck" which sounds like a truly terrible children's book.
They really have! I remember before I had kids being super worried I'd get a prolapsed uterus like my mom and grandma and nah, that sucker's in there no problem but this...I did not expect?
