Not at all the same, but when I had DD2 the insurance company declined all her bills because she wasn’t insured (well of course she wasn’t - we had 30 days to add her and we did on like day 11 or what not but they started denying things before she was fully processed). Everyone I spoke to was happy to resubmit and wait on payment rather than making us pay.

I’m so sorry. Our medical care system sucks. Normals hospital systems are very lenient about paying bills late, especially if you pay even a tiny portion each month. If this is a private Dr, it may depend on their office, but they should definitely be able to work with you on a payment plan while it gets worked out with insurance so they don’t send it to collections or having it impact your credit report, and make sure it doesn’t impact them treating you in the future if that is needed. If you could pay it all now, they should refund you later, but I’d feel like they might not fight insurance as hard if you did.

I have a similar situation and my provider holds the bill until all insurance is worked out. It makes me nervous (my insurance still hasn’t paid the bills from last July) but at least I don’t have to pay while they work it out.
It’s pretty normal for providers to put a hold on collections activities (including bills) when insurance is pending.
