What are everyone’s plans? We are hoping the Pacific Northwest comes and gets its rain, because it’s drunk and passed out in my yard. Like we are closing lakes because they are 15 feet higher than normal right now.
If no rain, I’m planning on us just being outside. Playing corn hole, eating good food, and just enjoying it. If it’s rainy, I have no idea. I want to go buy a grill. That’s about it.
It's supposed to be cold and rainy here all weekend. I'm going to head up to visit my parents tomorrow, crash there for the night, and then on Sunday I'm having a brunch get together with my college friends! We're all fully vaccinated and free, which is a miracle. These are my friends that are like family, but we see each other so rarely because we all live far apart. I cannot wait to just eat yummy food and relax with them. No kids, no spouses/SOs, just all of us catching up after an insane year. One of them is mid-divorce, one just quit her job, I've moved in with beau... There's been a lot going on and we'll finally get to be in person together and catch up.
It's going to be rainy and chilly (50s) on Sat and Sun here in PA. I snagged a reservation at the Y so the kids can swim in the splash pool tomorrow afternoon. No idea on what else we'll do yet. I am donating blood on Sunday morning. On Monday we'll go to my parents' place for a small BBQ.

It’s super hot and no sign of rain so send us some, mommyatty.
The girls have ice skating tomorrow morning, we are watching my goddaughter all weekend so we will pick her up after skating and get Cuban food since they live down the street from the best place. That’s all. I need to finish some partially-completed yard work, move my milkweed from the porch to the butterfly area.
So I wrote in the other post that dad was moved to the ICU, blood pressure crashed, fever and seizure. We didn't know if he would live. Anyway, now they have him stabilized again and just minimal blood pressure medication. Since they don't know what is going on and there was a fever indicating some kind of infection they are hitting with 2 kinds of broad spectrum antibiotics and an anti viral. They did a lumbar puncture to test for weird infectious diseases from Columbia as well as his 3rd Covid test and malaria. I was thinking of going to visit this weekend, but I think I will hold off. Also he is very confused, and never signed a POA, so we need a letter from the doctor saying he can't make decisions and file for conservatorship. Luckily, DH's mom is an attorney, but still the courts are a mess due to Covid restrictions, so who knows how long that will take.
So mostly we are still trying to recuperate from our trip. Still have diarrhea. It started Monday so this is day 5, but overall getting better, but just draining my energy. Tomorrow is the outside baby shower. I am not that enthused to go since I don't feel well, but since it is outside, and I won't touch anything she will touch, I don't think I will pass this onto someone. The kids didn't get it yet anyway, so maybe it was from the food that DH and I ate, unpasteurized cheese maybe that they gave us?
Otherwise, DH picks up his Tesla tomorrow so he is excited about that. And I plan to have the kids clean their rooms on Sunday/ Monday and maybe go to the pool if it warms up. It was 80, and now we have a holiday weekend it is 50, so mean mother nature.
I’m on my way home. I really miss home right now. My bed, my shower, my family, the pup. Is it wrong to admit that at this point, that’s the order I miss them in?? I slept like crapola almost every single night, which I wasn’t expecting.
NYC was.. weird. Definitely empty. The touristy areas have some tourists, but midtown was dead and things were shutting down early. My boss was out of place wearing his suit. Homeless people everywhere, and a lot of fear because apparently people are randomly going around and bashing people for no reason. Three different people we met with knew folks that had been hospitalized because of a random bludgeoning with no purpose other than to hurt someone.
We usually have busy days that start around 9am and end around 10pm.. This trip, not so much. Aside from one day that we traveled to Jersey, we didn’t start before lunch. No one wanted to come into the city unless there were drinks and a meal involved. So I got to do some touristy things, which was a nice change since I’ve never had time to before.
We have puppy at his second day of doggy daycare - which we don’t want, but it’s a prerequisite for her to determine if she’ll take him for boarding when we’re out of town.. so far, it’s “not a for sure no and she needs more time to make a decision” - whatever that means. It at least partially means that she can charge us an extra $60 a day to make the decision. He also ate a plastic bag while he was there Tuesday… DH found out the gross way.
We have a dog trainer coming tomorrow for a training evaluation. We just can’t keep this dog from counter-surfing and eating things he shouldn’t… non-food related, he’s up to two plastic bags (one puked up, one passed thru) and two sandals (one puked up, one just gnawed) and there is just no safe surface in the house since he’s so big..

We have a class play date in a park, 2 kid parties (1 for DS' friend 1 for DD's friend), and 2 playdates plus celebrating my sister's birthday so we're in town but very busy. I'm already tired. I had a business dinner last night and with the wine I slept horribly last night so if I could nap some time soon that would be great.
I met with another architect today and she told me with what we want to do it'll be 350K remodel job. Which is 100K more than someone else eyeballed it at but you know how things are right now. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but I'm glad I know.

Sorry this is going to be long.
DH is on the cusp of receiving an offer from my company for a middle management position. On one hand, I'm excited as this will mean the end of his weird state of contract work and being underemployed for the past 4 years, our company is a big name in the industry and being here will set him up nicely for the future. On the other hand, I really didn't want him to work at my company. There are 700+ employees and we won't be in the same department, but still. And the department he is going in is a dumpster fire. BUT, he hasn't had any luck finding anything nearly equivalent anywhere else even after looking non-stop for years, and this is a considerable step up for him in terms of title, responsibility and pay. We moved here 4 years ago for my job; so I feel like I need to be supportive. I've emphasized repeatedly that he's walking into a dumpster fire, but DH's point is that he would never have gotten the job if there weren't as many challenges and he is genuinely excited to get in there and make a difference. So I guess here it goes....
Add us to the rainy weekend group. DD2 has a soccer tournament, which we will be attending in scuba gear, apparently. DD1 has a couple of softball practices, but if it’s as wet as they are expecting, those won’t happen. So other than that, hanging at home and starting to get myself organized to pack for DD1’s sleepaway camp at the end of next month. Maybe DH and I will sneak out to dinner one night? Who knows??
Update: I have an email from American saying they will refund for all 3 people for the tickets! Yay!
In other news, the hospital thinks they have diagnosed dad with Wernicke Encephalopathy. Unfortunately since he is experiencing hallucinations and making up stories I am not sure we can get his brain back to functional, but we might see some small improvement.

Late to the party, as usual. But we are back to normal around here now that my mom can stay alone. My brother is on PT duty next week so that will save me 6 hours of time.
DS had his last day of school yesterday and I was in charge of their all school celebration with 2 other moms. They took the lead and I was kind of the logistics person. It was A LOT of prep and work during the party for 2.5 freaking hours for 90 kids. I was completely wiped at the end of the day.
Today has been laundry catch up, cleaning the rabbit cage and I took the kids to lunch and ice cream. Tomorrow will be groceries, bringing some cabinets over from MIL's that she replaced with new ones. I need to take the kids to my mom's so she can see them. But I may wait until Monday if DH and DS go fishing and then just DD and I will go. If we don't, I'm not sure what Monday will consist of.
