I don't automatically think people who go mask free are necessarily Trumpers but I do sometimes feel like they are forgetting about the people who can't get vaccinated. With the rise of kids with COVID in hospitals it's concerning to me. I would love to feel confident enough not to make my kids wear masks. But many are patiently waiting until they can get their kids vaccinated. So we wear masks for them. Just my humble opinion.
I'm not arguing with you, but I legitimately feel like I'm missing something.
I went out with my daughter over the weekend. If a store had a sign that said "no mask required if vaccinated, unvaccinated people should wear mask", then DD wore her mask and I didn't. I'm not forgetting that she is unvaccinated, I just am not sure what additional risk an unmasked vaccinated person poses to an unvaccinated person wearing a mask. (for the record, I tried to wear my mask in solidarity with her, but apparently that was embarrassing to her and she insisted that I take mine off since I'm vaxxed)
I understand that the argument may be that vaccines aren't 100%, but neither were masks. If I'm vaccinated and unmasked in a store, am I putting my kid at more risk than I was when I was unvaxxed but masked?
Again, I'm asking these questions sincerely. It's hard to keep up with all the guidances, and I am wondering if I missed something?
Even though breakthrough infections are rare, they do happen. I'm vaccinated, but I know that if I do catch COVID I likely won't develop symptoms or think to get tested/isolate. Wearing my mask ensures that I won't pass the disease to an unvaccinated person.
Let me put it this way: I could not live with myself if I infected my 10 year old, or if I caused someone who's immunocompromised to become infected. People who can't get vaccinated/for whom vaccinations don't really work shouldn't be forced to put themselves at additional risk or become shut-ins for yet another summer just because I'm more comfortable in the grocery store without a piece of fabric over my mouth and nose.
I recognize that I'm likely in the minority on this, but after losing a family member to COVID and making so many sacrifices over the last year to protect my loved ones, I'm not about to let my guard down now.

Well if I, as a vaccinated person, get Covid and spread it to my daughters its still a risk. While minimal in theory I still can get covid and spread covid. But also I find it easier for me to get my SN to wear her mask if she sees us wearing our masks. Especially out in public where it's a 50/50 amount of people wearing masks and many still who won't get vaccinated. It may be different for you and your location but in Texas there seems to still be a risk. I watch the numbers and in our little city it's about 100-140 active cases at a given time and most of them seem to be in the range of 12-19. For our county we have about 30-50 new cases a day.
I ordered some fancy loom and all the accessories. I’ve been enjoying working on a frame tapestry loom and this will let me make actual fabric or things like towels, scarves and table runners.
Oddly no place seems to sell them in person anywhere near me so I ordered it all from a shop I randomly went into once in Kentucky which is apparently a pretty famous fiber crafts store. I never spend money on myself so it seems insane (the accessories are $$$) but hopefully it will be fun? It’s been a long couple of years and it’s good to do something new.

Same. The vaccine is great but the pandemic is still raging on. It doesn’t bother me to wear a mask while I shop or pick up food so why not? I don’t see the downside but there are several potential upsides.

Mostly it's trauma. We've all been through hell the past 15 months. It's going to take a lot of time for everyone to figure out their comfort levels. We've reached the point where there are many decisions that are perfectly reasonable and those decisions are stark contrasts of each other.
I personally freaked out when the CDC came out with their revised guidelines because like always they seemed to forget that kids exist. I'm getting there though. I have done a ton of research, looked a lot of data, and with that I am okay going out without a mask in some (even most) situations. When DD is with me I wear a mask 100% of the time if indoors. This will continue to evolve and change as more people get vaccinated and more information comes out. Right now I am just hoping for a good summer and am not thinking about things too far in advance.
We have our first of two trainers coming for an eval with Donny tonight. I’m so nervous. I know that trainers are only involved when a dog needs improvement, but I just know I’m going to feel embarrassed lol.
My kid woke up at 4:30 and hasn't been back to sleep. So much coffee is needed today.
I have my first book club meeting tonight in person and am at a total loss of what snack/app to bring. Cheese board? Dip? Cookies? any ideas or does anyone have go tos?
I’m partial to cheese boards myself, but crackers and an artichoke dip is always an easy, perfect go-to. Have fun at book club!

Oh, I have another one. My boss's boss that was so mad at me for leaving my last job? We have re-established our friendship with me knowing good and well that I will never be able to work with her again. Yesterday, she sent me a text that she is looking to leave, too! So, I'm going to assume that part of her (very unprofessional) response was because she has been unhappy there as well.

What did you get- I assume from the Woolery? I have a mostly 3d printed rigid heddle loom (and an inkle loom, an adorable little table loom, some homemade frame looms and way too many pin looms) and all my weaving groups are full of people trying to get their hands on RHLs (the manufacturers are running really behind). Weaving is such a soothing hobby- I've been really happy to have it during COVID... and it was a blood pressure saver during Trump.
I'm so annoyed (I should go weave LOL) at our district's inability to give the slightest shit about records accuracy. DS noticed that he doesn't "have" enough math credits to graduate middle school when he checked for his final grades today. For some reason, the second semester of Geometry [which he took during the first half of this year] is nowhere to be found in his records- and it's screwing up counting anything that comes after it (he's almost done with Algebra II, for goodness sake). So, he has more than enough credits, they just aren't all where they're supposed to be.
There have been problems with report cards or a kid's records every single semester for the past could of years- and it's all stuff like this. And one of us is always the one to notice- we always have to bring it to the district. Blech.
penguingrrl exactly! Anecdotally the people I know who are brazenly mask free are the ones who aren’t vaccinated! And in all honesty, my main reason for putting it back on is so no one thinks I’m a Trumper or a conspiracy theorist.
Whhhhhyyy must everything be like this???
Mu husband just said the same thing this morning - he's dying to be able to go mask free (fully vaccinated) but doesn't want the rest of society to think he's a Trumper.
I also know several non-vaxxed who walk around mask free with nary a concern. Infuriating, because I also have an immunocompromised kid.
My dd (8) wears a mask but looked at my like I had 2 heads when I suggested I wear one like her, despite being fully vaxed. She absolutely does not care. So I only wear one if we are somewhere that’s more crowded or that requires them. I’ll also wear one in local stores that require their employees to wear one.
Frankly, I think me not wearing one with my child who is says that I’m not a maskhole Trumper. Plenty of people here never made their kids mask even if the adults complied.
I still wear a mask most places and will continue to do so until my kids are fully vaccinated. There is still a risk of me carrying and spreading the illness, but once they are fully vaccinated I will be less worried about that. The thing for me, is that I'm having a really hard time with the honor system. For the last year+ we've had the antimaskers and then the antivaxxers and then I'm now supposed to just all of a sudden believe that these same people are now vaccinated and if not they'll wear a mask? I don't think so.

Yes, the Woolery! They were so nice when I was there in person so I checked them out first and then realized are the only place I’ve seen with everything in stock.
I got a Kromski Harp Forte (32). I was tempted to throw an inkle in the cart too after seeing a pattern for shoelaces but talked myself down. I don’t even think I even have a pair of shoes with laces lol

I'm so excited for you! That's such a pretty RHL, with a very generous width! You're going to love it!
You can technically do anything you'd do on an inkle loom on a RHL (perhaps not as easily)- but there are tons of free patterns to build one if you (or someone who loves you) can handle straight cuts and drilling holes. I got mine dirt cheap, but I have "build a larger one" on my someday list!

After your post the other day, I called a trainer for Arrow. We have an appointment for Friday morning. I'm already nervous and sure she's going to behave badly, which is the whole reason we need a trainer....

Last summer I found dog groomers that travel around and come to your house to groom, and I used them to come clip my 2 dogs' nails. The main person is apparently a dog trainer too, and while I was super impressed with how she handled my giant puppy who has no manners and jumps on people when she's excited, she also lectured me and made me feel like a horrible puppy owner that I now inconvenience myself by taking the dogs one at a time to pet supplies plus to do their nails just to avoid the embarrassment. I'm sure she was trying to get me to hire her as a trainer or something, but all she did was make me feel bad and not want to use her.
Hope the training goes well! I did one session with both my dogs early on, but I don't have the mental energy to handle any more even though I know I should.

Good luck! I’ll update with how it goes. The second one is coming Saturday. We just wanted multiple opinions and to see if he clicks better with one or the other. One is significantly more expensive, I think, and I know that will sway H’s opinion lol.
ETA: expectantsteelerfan - I had one trainer make me feel that way with Stella. He said the ONLY way to “rehabilitate” her was to send her to him for three months of board & train to the tune of $3,000/month. I remember calling my mom sobbing about how I couldn’t afford that and she was doomed to be a terrible dog forever. Obviously that was an overreaction on my part, but I just felt SO shitty. I did find another trainer and we had much better luck with him.

Same. My kids are still wearing masks. DD1 is old enough at 6 to understand that she wears one because she's unvaccinated and I don't have to wear one because I am. I'm hoping this fact will help her when she's eligible since she hates needles. Hopefully the benefit of not having to mask up anymore will help her tolerate the 2 shots (probably not, but I can hope!).

I was very torn about the size but the price difference between the sizes wasn’t much. I figured it would be better to spend a little bit more and be able to make large or small things than save like $50, get a smaller one and then want to upgrade and end up spending another $$$ for a second loom. Hopefully I won’t regret it. The reviews I read were 50/50 between “I should have bought the big one right away” and “The 32 is too big and my arms get tired”.
Good to know about the inkle! It does look relatively easy to DIY. The shoelace idea is stuck in my head lol I did set up some alerts on resale sites in case one pops up.

Well, this is one of those hobbies that skews towards (really) older people, so take those comments with a chunk of salt!
ETA: And of course, you don't have to warp the whole width (some people seem to forget that LOL).

I wore my mask in the office yesterday, and technically I'm not 14 days past until later this week. Thankfully everyone was nice, but they made a lot of comments about not needing theirs. Cool, I'm gonna keep wearing mine...in the heat. I'm ready to ditch though lol.
I got my days mixed up (again) when DH is actually working, so I'm leaving an hour early on Friday and hopefully going to do something outside with him. A little frustrated with a calendar filling up when I put blocks for the reason I have to go in, this better pay off (more help) in the future.
Our pool is finally going up. It's just a small, temporary one but I'll take it. We've been unseasonably hot and humid.

Ooh, good point! I wonder why that is? Was there a wave of weaving fever in like the 1950s/60s/70s or does the interest come upon you after you retire? Am I prematurely aging?

It's semi expensive to get into, the tools are a little intimidating (it's seriously not bad, I promise), there's a lot of new vocabulary to learn, and it's a little time intensive- so I guess those things push it into retired people territory (at least in the US). I noticed it in woodworking (not quite as bad) and pottery, too!
Can I whine for a bit? I had my bone spur/ligament surgery a week and a half ago and I’m so over this. I’m in a knee scooter and cast, so I can get around, but it’s awkward and I have to put my foot up most of the time. I also have to give myself a heparin shot every night to prevent blood clots, something I was NOT prepared for.
I’m also tired of crawling up and down the stairs to go to bed every night. It’s been 12 days and I’m in a cast for 16 more, with 3 weeks after that in a boot. DH is our family chauffeur and pretty much everything else right now.

Big hugs. I had my ankle surgery in November, it’s awful and so exhausting. Scootering everywhere, crawling up the steps, hopping. I sympathize with you. And then shots on top of it all? Whine away, you are so due for it. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. Last week was tougher, with finishing school, but now I’m just stuck with the reminder that nothing is changing for weeks. My MIL is coming to visit on Friday, and that’ll help, because things won’t be quite so monotonous.
