They are upgrading our microsoft apps, including Teams at work. They are telling us that we cannot invite outside emails to teams meetings after the upgrade. UH WTF? We have to have meetings regularly with companies outside the Government given the entire nature of our job. I just cannot... Supposedly some offices will get a phone #, but they're not sure when the capability to invite outside personnel will be added.
My kid woke up at 4:30 and hasn't been back to sleep. So much coffee is needed today.
I have my first book club meeting tonight in person and am at a total loss of what snack/app to bring. Cheese board? Dip? Cookies? any ideas or does anyone have go tos?
I have to present tomorrow at work and I threw together a presentation faster than ever before because I want to leave to go strawberry picking.
We're planning our trip to St. Louis and last night we bought tickets to the Cardinals game we're going to (I plan my trips home based on their home game schedule)...and right after I spent $350 on non-refundable tickets, I realized I bought them for the wrong date. Now we have to leave 1 day earlier in order to make the game.
I also was driving myself nuts trying to get my badge clipped onto my pocket and then I realized my pants were inside out. It is literally just Tuesday.

1. My kid did the same thing today. Oof.
2. I made a whipped feta dip (drizzled with TJs chili onion crunch on top) this weekend and put radishes, halved mini bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and naan crackers on the side.

Haha, I know exactly what you're talking about! This whole thing is so dumb- we have something that actually works, WHY are they rolling out a new version that is clearly not ready?
I am so all over the place with masks. I’ve been vaccinated for a while. This area has been super compliant with mask requirements - I say this as not only a patron but also an employee- nary a mask hole to be found.
Now that mask requirements are being lifted I personally looking forward to losing the mask. I’ve ventured out a couple times without one, careful to read signs about what each particular store requires. I’d say universally, despite not being required, and despite extremely high vaccination rates, 90%+ of people are still masked. So of course I don’t want to look like a POS so I put mine on too.
I am wondering when it’ll end. When kids are vaxced?

Have you been using CVR teams? I’m mad that they’re getting rid of that and going back to regular MS Teams, but I imagine CVR must have been incredibly expensive for the government.
My kids are getting their second vaccine shot today, I am so relieved. And H's exW finally agreed to let my step-kids get vaccinated so we just got them scheduled as well. We are going on vacation in August and I'm so relieved that we are all going to be vaccinated now.
My veggie garden is actually growing and I'm so excited, even the majority of the stuff I started from seed is growing as well, only the green peppers never grew, but all of my herbs and my green bean plants are thriving. I finally got the last tomato and pepper plant in the ground last night along with the marigolds that I also grew from seed, I read somewhere that they are friends with tomatoes and I have 3 different heirloom varieties of tomatoes that I'm growing this year so I'm hoping that it works out.
VillainV, yes, this is part of the whole new 365 migration. They didn't want to keep paying for CVR.
I don't really care what the base software is, but we have regular meetings with personnel that are outside DOD. So we need to be able to meet with them virtually. We're not even guaranteed a number for our office, so if we share a number, I don't even want to know the logistics of that.
Plus, I need to approximately 1 million interviews between now and Aug 15 when they are freezing our staffing and now we'll have to setup old time bridge numbers I guess for the panels.

I struggle with this, too. I was at the grocery yesterday and there were several people not wearing masks. It was so freaking hot and muggy and I pulled mine off several times, when other people weren't nearby. But on days like that, I wonder why I struggle so much to stop wearing it. I know it's mental on my part. I'm vaccinated. Our numbers locally are really, really down. Like you, I just don't know what that magic point is going to be where I say, "Yay, forget the mask!" And come fall and flu season, I'm likely to want to wear it anyway.
I did 20 real sit ups yesterday. Without anyone anchoring my feet and I didn't even have to cheat by giving myself an elbow boost, grabbing my legs or even lifting my butt. haha.
ssmjlm, VillainV, it would also be less annoying if we could at least get Zoom or Skype videoconferencing to work reliably on our computers for meetings with contractors and other outside orgs, but CVR is the only one that has consistently worked for everyone. They were always going to need to replace CVR, but at least get the new one functional first!
I slept good for the first time in a while and of course woke up with a terrible stiff neck. I don't know wtf I did. I got up around 5am to pee and it was fine. So sometime between then and when my alarm went off at 6:45 I fucked it up. I'm sitting at my desk with a heat pack on my shoulders.
I told one of our coordinators to schedule twice weekly meetings with me at 7am my time (8am for him) because it was the only time I could pretty much guarantee I’d be available for check in calls. I’m really just so irritated with myself about this. I usually am up and going well before 7, but I’ve really been struggling to wake up lately and all I want to do right now is go back to sleep.

My area is less 50% vaxxed but 99% mask free, which makes me uncomfortable personally since clearly people are not vaxxed and also not wearing masks. I would feel better either if we were over 70% vaxxed or we had a lower case rate (my county is still in the double digits for daily cases, so it’s still out there and spreading). But I also have someone at home who’s immunocompromised, so I know that makes me more cautious than others.
penguingrrl exactly! Anecdotally the people I know who are brazenly mask free are the ones who aren’t vaccinated! And in all honesty, my main reason for putting it back on is so no one thinks I’m a Trumper or a conspiracy theorist.
I'm running out of ideas for dinners. My H would be perfectly happy having the same 5-6 meals on rotation every week, but I'm getting bored and not a lot is appealing to me. I look on my Pinterest boards and many of the recipes that look good to me seem complicated and time-consuming. I don't mind it on a Sunday, but weeknights I want something quick yet tasty. H offered to make whatever I want (he's an awesome cook), but I can't even pinpoint what that is. Blah.
I watch tv for a little bit aftery daughter gets on the bus but before I start work for the day.
HOW has Kelly & Ryan stayed on the air for so long?? They are so awkward and stilted with each other. It's hard to watch, and yet I also cant look away. Like a train wreck.
I'm assuming she has some damning information about the higher ups at ABC because there is really no other explanation for keeping her on the show this long.

Whhhhhyyy must everything be like this???
Yes! This! It’s so annoying. My mask protects others and I’m vaccinated so...why am I still feeling the need to wear one? So no one thinks I’m “like them.” I’m actually still wearing one most of the time because I’m with my littler kids who can’t be vaccinated, but it would be nice to be free sometimes lol. I took my 3yo to paint at the library and my two favorite librarians were there and they are both left leaning and vaccinated and weren’t wearing masks so I took mine off and it was so nice!

I feel like I’m kind of in summer hell. I have two ages groups - my kids are almost 10 and 12 and then almost 4. Summer used to be my favorite. We were busy every day - playground, children’s museum, zoo, splash pad, pool, library events. Now the older two have outgrown a lot of that (or are “too cool”) and the things they like to do are not the easiest with a littler kid or they are asking to bring a friend which stresses me out for some reason. I’m feeling like I suck at this. I wish my big kids would sometimes be a little more willing to give a little. Like they never want to go in the pool or for walks, no playgrounds. All they really want to do is play video games all day and everything else is being met with complaints.

My son (15) and I are finally getting our first vaccine dose today. I really wanted us to be able to do it together. I'm a crazy mom, but I just felt like this is a milestone type thing. Yesterday, he was like, "I don't think that I really want to get it." I was like, "Oh, good thing you are 15 and I'm your parent, so you don't get to decide." He's not worried about the shot, but I think he's concerned about side effects after the 2nd shot. Oh well.
My neighbor/really good friend whose husband came home and said that he wasn't happy a few weeks ago, just found out the other day that he had cheated on her like 7 times over the past 5 years and that her cousin knew about it. RAGE!
I am in the office today, but everything I am doing is virtual. It is super annoying. At some point I need to just get over myself and accept that I'm going to be in the office 5 days a week starting in less than a month, but I'm really struggling to mentally adjust to that. It just seems like such an inconvenience, especially when it means I need to drag in my own laptop and then hide in an empty office or conference room when I have meetings. It would be so much less hassle to just do that at home.
Tomorrow is my birthday, so I plan to stop by Costco on my way home and buy one of their small cakes (and the handful of other things I need from Costco). Knowing that, I am already craving cake lol.

I have mostly stopped wearing masks in stores that don't require it for vaccinated people anymore. It is much more comfortable, my area has a high vaccine uptake, and I'm trying to normalize it. This is what we worked so hard for! I'm not letting the mask holes take it away from me!!!
I don't automatically think people who go mask free are necessarily Trumpers but I do sometimes feel like they are forgetting about the people who can't get vaccinated. With the rise of kids with COVID in hospitals it's concerning to me. I would love to feel confident enough not to make my kids wear masks. But many are patiently waiting until they can get their kids vaccinated. So we wear masks for them. Just my humble opinion.

For me I'll feel better when DS(5) can be vaxxed. H and I will continue to mask up until he's fully vaxxed. My state (WA) has or will hit 70% vaxxed soon. Unfortunately for my family the bulk of people contributing to that number are not in my red city. I don't think my city will ever get to immunity. Stupid anti-vaxxers and/or republicans.

I think following the employees’ lead is the way to go. I don’t care about random customers or their opinions but I wouldn’t want someone to feel unsafe in their workplace.

I'm not arguing with you, but I legitimately feel like I'm missing something.
I went out with my daughter over the weekend. If a store had a sign that said "no mask required if vaccinated, unvaccinated people should wear mask", then DD wore her mask and I didn't. I'm not forgetting that she is unvaccinated, I just am not sure what additional risk an unmasked vaccinated person poses to an unvaccinated person wearing a mask. (for the record, I tried to wear my mask in solidarity with her, but apparently that was embarrassing to her and she insisted that I take mine off since I'm vaxxed)
I understand that the argument may be that vaccines aren't 100%, but neither were masks. If I'm vaccinated and unmasked in a store, am I putting my kid at more risk than I was when I was unvaxxed but masked?
Again, I'm asking these questions sincerely. It's hard to keep up with all the guidances, and I am wondering if I missed something?
