I have a phone screen for a job, I think will be remote or at least it said in the advertisement. I really do like going in person, but in normal times the job is too far to commute, and I would have never applied unless there was a remote option. If they say I have to come in, then I will withdraw my application because it would be 1.5 hours in traffic one way, I think.
I do feel like I am in need of a change, but I don't have a huge direction for that path. I would like to move out of managing a desk schedule- just a regular schedule would be easier. I would like to move to something with more technical aspect because I took that on 2 years ago, and I am enjoying the technical aspect.
My DH is currently remote, and I know that won't last forever, but I think that would be the main conflict because we don't have 2 home offices, and I would have to work out of the dining room. I'll do the phone screen regardless, but what are your thoughts having most of you worked from home due to the pandemic?
I love working remotely, and for me it isn’t significantly different than if I was in the office since my team is located across the country, so most of our meetings are by phone or video anyway.
I think it’s vital to have a set space to work where there aren’t a lot of disruptions. I have my own office, and now that we are looking at houses, the lack of a dedicated office with a door is a deal killer. What are your H’s thoughts on his giving up the office when he can go back to an in person office?
mommyatty, I don't think he would give up his office completely. But it could maybe be where I use it 3-4 days a week, and he uses it 1-2 days a week. We could put an office in the basement. I already have desks down there, but it isn't finished/ pretty. We did e-learning school there.

I love working remote. I was remote except for 1 day/week before the pandemic. I work from my couch even though I have an office set up. But I always have a quiet place to work.
I don't mind working from home. I appreciate the (non) commute and being home to take care of more stuff during my breaks.
But mentally? I miss the schedule and routine - having a reason to leave the house, a reason to dress up a bit, a reason to put on makeup, in person socialization with people I don't live with/near, and most importantly, a clear delineation between working hours and non-working hours.

This is me exactly. Our office is reopening with a hybrid schedule, so I"ll be in person 2 days/week and home the rest, or I can choose to go in more. I kind of can't wait to have those boundaries again.
There is another job I applied to that is hybrid. Hybrid would be my first choice, but it sounds like if DH goes back more days I can make WFH work also.
