H is doing a track day so he can take his new car out. David is making him something and we're going out to brunch. H's birthday was two weeks ago and we always buy him a lot of gifts for that, so FD isn't particularly gifty for us. Also, H always says "I just want to hang out with you guys", which is sweet, but not helpful in planning something.
For his birthday, I arranged a kid-free weekend away and booked a couples massage, museum tickets, and dinner at a nice restaurant. David got him a T-shirt that said "I make cute babies" and bacon socks.
Ok, well, I ended up getting Brian Regan tickets. We love to listen to him on our road trips and even David loves him so we're all going. Jim Gaffigan is coming to town as well but me and David opted for Brian Regan. I looked at events for H's birthday in May and there was pretty much nothing, even into fall and winter. Now there are many events, so that's an option.
His birthday is the week before...so this is always tough (like do I siphon off a gift or something???)
Same. Today is DH’s birthday. It’s tough.
I got DH some athletic wear and a game for his birthday, and a drone for FD.
Yep! DH’s birthday was last week, so there’s typically a 2 week gap between his birthday and Father’s Day and he generally buys himself whatever the hell he wants, anyway. DS picked out some things from the Target Dollar section a few weeks ago and had a very specific plan as to which items were for which purpose. I should check in with him this week and see if he wants to get anything else for DH.

A 3 month subscription to a wine delivery he's been wanting and, if I can figure out how to do it, I'm going to frame our son's footprints and dog's paw prints. I ordered a frame online, but I need a stamp ink pad, which might be hard since stores are closed for in person shopping again here. And then I need to figure out how to ink the baby's feet and then clean them well enough that FI doesn't notice - the dog is easier on that front!
I ordered my H a personalized grill plate that was recommended on MMM. I’ll also pickup crabs for dinner that weekend for dinner. I won’t see my dad so just a phone call.
@@ My teen daughter called someone (Paul Rudd?) a DILF. I spun my head around and stared at her. She asked, "Well, isn't he?" I kept staring, mind spinning. And then she said, "Or is he older?"
Finally, I asked, "What do you think DILF means?"
She said, "Dad in Late Forties."
When I told her what it really meant, she spun in circles for a few seconds, covered her face, and said, "Everything makes so much more sense now..."
I ordered him a solar-powered battery bank, some socks, and a bear-head statuette that will either go in our living room or maybe his office. I also want to get him at least one new dress shirt. So he'll have a few small things to open up, but the main gift is that I've asked him to pick a day to take off for a day trip, and I'm getting tickets for all four of us to go to an amusement park that's about two hours away that we've haven't been to yet.

I got my mom flowers so want to do something equivalent for my dad. But is there an equivalent to flowers for someone who doesn't drink coffee, alcohol, etc? And is trying to eat healthy so can't do his favorite treats?
He's so hard to shop for. He's not into sports or music or anything. He basically works (can't buy for that) and is into a hobby I also can't buy for.
So easy! Lol
Does your town have a balloon company? Could you send him an arrangement or do a lawn display? those have been big where I live esp during quarantine.

Ok coming back because I did end up buying him something. I got a ridge wallet. They're super thin. My husband has started carrying cards loose in his pocket saying his wallet is too big, but then is always thinking he's lost them stressing me out lol.
