We're supposed to be moving into our new house in a little less than 2 weeks. There are a few things I need to get/install before then. Any recs for any of them?
- We will have brand new HW floors, and no area rugs yet (since we are coming from a house with a lot of wall to wall carpet). I will buy some, but I want to see the furniture in the spaces to know what sizes to get. In the meantime, what do I need to protect the floors from furniture legs? Do I need to worry about just chairs primarily, or also beds, couches, etc.?
- Cordless blinds, inside mount. Any good deals lately? DS's blind doesn't work, and DD's room doesn't have any at all.
- Ceiling fans for bedrooms. They're so practical... but often so unattractive! Looking for something with light.

The stick-on felt protectors were recommended when we originally refinished our floors. HD and Lowes has a huge selection. We like getting the big rectangular pieces so we could cut them to fit oddly shaped bottoms to the furniture.
Check out Comfortex? They usually have some kind of special and have tons of pattern options.
We have pads on everything that's on the HW and not on a rug.
Lots of various pad sizes depending on the furniture piece. We have them on our tv stand so we can easily pull out to vacuum. The front of the sofa is on the rug, but I have them on the back legs b/c my kid things the couch is a jungle gym.
ETA: Blinds - in our old house we had a bunch of the JCP 2" faux wood. I would just do any 2" faux wood from any store. Our current house we had budget blinds come and do the whole house.
Ceiling fans, I would just do a flush mount white to blend in.
I feel like ceiling fan manufacturers have started getting better, and there are more neutral (less offensive) options on the market these days. Lowes has several that don't make my eyes bleed
We don't have anything on our kitchen chairs, but I've put the felt pads on some of our tables/more solid furniture pieces. I've always found the felt pads on chairs are too much of a magnet for dog hair, so just struggle with nothing on the chair bottoms.

I don't recall if you have pets or not - but if so the felt pads that stick on are horrible - there is always dog hair stuck and clumped even when they are cut to fit I tried those plastic "caps" that slip over the bottom of the chairs and don't like how they fit and look. I have the felt pads on all chairs/stools. Not on the beds or the couches - what I did need to do is put blocks behind the couch legs to make sure that DH didn't keep pushing it against the wall and pulling the curtains down (don't ask - - - )
I found $100 small ceiling fans at Lowe's with LED lights and remotes. They took about an hour to install. YouTube was very helpful in figuring out how to remove light box and install ceiling fan brace. I have had good success with selectblinds--they always seem to have a sale. I want to look to see if we have more standard windows so something from Lowe's would work. We've tried to stick on felt pads and they inevitably fall off and as someone said are huge fur traps.

I’ll second the chair socks for kitchen and/or dining room chairs. I was constantly replacing the felt and pulling pet hair off of it. Bonus in that you can throw chair socks in the wash.
Sticky felt is great for even pieces that dont move - eg buffet table, bc you can slide it on the hardwood without scratching (eg to access an electric outlet).
I have a plastic cups for the bottom of chair legs w felt on bottom. They’re the only thing that worked on heavily used chairs.
KellyEasterbrook , I ended up getting the same Timpani 44" fan for DS's room. His room is the only one that doesn't have a fan, so his was highest priority. I'll see how I like it before deciding on replacement fans for the other rooms.
