What an awesome update campermom! I can't imagine all you have to deal with everyday, but it definitely seems like you're through the worst of it and things are only looking up from here. I'm so happy for you. You're amazing.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

campermom, I came over from the other board after reading some of your posts to tell you what an amazing job you've done navigating this and getting out! Your kids and you will be so much better off moving forward.
Since this is an update, my dad is doing a lot better. He actually is eating. We visited today and he had a slice of pizza! He does not remember us extracting him from Columbia which is ok since it was kind of terrible with the plane breaking down. He says his blood pressure has stabilized but he’s not exactly a reliable narrator. The group home has not said he has had bad days lately. The first day and third day were rough!
My MIL says she can do POA and evaluate for competency. He was not fabricating today. Not sure if he is past that? But short term memory is still bad. She didn’t think the short term memory was a problem in terms of the POA. She referred us to a VA lawyer to see if we have a case to raise the disability percentage. He reimbursed our expenses today. Hopefully if he keeps eating he can get those nutrients back to at least live in a senior apartment instead of assisted living. He was very happy to see everyone. He did not remember where I lived though even though I’ve been there 12 years and he has been to my home numerous times.
