Does anyone have a herringbone walkway?

Specifically one that curves?  We had our walkway redone and the herringbone pattern goes from north/south orientation at one end to east/west on the other.  I do not like the east/west.  I'm being told that is the only way to do it without it looking off.  Which I don't understand.  The curve of the walkway is similar to the shape of a comma. 

I don't know how to post a picture, but they redid it once already because it was for sure not right. And this time it looks better, but not what I have pictured in my head.

We just had a curved herringbone path put in and I think it looks really nice.
