I have a coupon for a free gallon of paint from SW. I want to paint our dining room white but we usually use Benjamin Moore and I don't have a go-to from Sherwin Williams.
Our trim is BM Decorator's white and the adjoining spaces are BM Balboa Mist.
Balboa Mist can have a purple undertone in some lights so I need to factor that in. I want a white that has some depth. I had tried SW Extra White and that felt too stark. Any suggestions?
ETA: We went with a color match to Benjamin Moore Decorator White and it looks great. Thanks!
Depending on what line/sheen of paint you want, you might be on a wild chase for that right now. I have been a loyal SW customer for like 15 years, and pivoted to BM this month because SW's supply chain issues were so bad. No matte Duration or Emerald for weeks and weeks on end. I've been using BM Regal in eggshell instead. I know that isn't what you really asked, but just wanted to spare you a frustrating stop at the store. Maybe call ahead to see if they're affected/what products they have in stock before you go.
No advice on whites. My trim is SW Alabaster, but other than that I have not used many whites.
Susie, thanks for the head's up. It's actually for Ovation Plus at Lowes and as far as I see online there is a lot in stock in my region. It's not a brand I would normally use but it's free.

Can they color-match to BM? We have Balboa Mist in an adjoining room and Benjamin Moore's Sand Dollar in our "white" room. It looked a little pink going on because I think the primer had grey undertones, but once it was on it looks a pure, creamy white (might be hard to tell here but the arch is Balboa Mist (ETA: I forgot, it's actually Pale Oak, which is very similar to Balboa Mist -- we narrowed it down to those two and ended up choosing Pale Oak):
We’ve used Alabaster on a lot of things… exterior trim, kitchen cabinets, laundry room cabinets, bookcases/wainscoting in the family room. I love it. It’s got a very slight warmth to it so it’s not just bright white. But it’s not yellowy or too gray.
Color matching is a good idea. I could probably also go with BM Calm, which is the top of the color strip with Balboa Mist but maybe not as white as I had planned. We're going to do picture frame molding and I'm thinking if we do that, the molding, crown and baseboard should all be the same color as the walls? In which case I want a pretty true white. I could just go with decorator white.
