The other thread got me wondering... How much do you pay your babysitter? What is their age (like a highschool teen, college, older?) How many kids are they watching? Your areas COL?

I just got out of this stage … 1- $20/hr 2- late HS/early college 3- 1 4- VHCOL (SF/Bay Area)
Between $20 and $30 depending on how many kids they’re watching and age of babysitter. Our regular babysitter gets $30 an hour for all four kids. HCOL. We don’t use any babysitters under college age but I’m sure we will as the kids get older.
College educated 30-something who nannies full time
2 kids (4 and 6)

We paid her $20 per hour last summer when she nannied for us. She babysat tonight and I paid her $25. I pay her far more than I would a teenager or even a college student. This is how she makes her living, so I pay her enough to make it worth her while to watch my kids on a random evening.
I guess I am the cheap one! $12-15/hr One kid (5) MCOL Sitters are generally high school ($12) or college ($15). Maybe I should pay more, although my HS students tell me they charge $10. We haven’t had a HS sitter in 2 years though with Covid. We have 2 guy sitters we use mainly now, before was only girls.
$15-$20 / hr, 2 kids, HCOL, college age- mid 20s. I do know a 14 year old who was just starting out and was charging $9 but that is super low. My kids are finally old enough where I’d be ok with a young teen. Generally people try to pay minimum wage which is $13.

This is what we are paying our niece who is nannying for us for the summer and I'm starting to think she's underpaid. We did give her a $100 gas card at the beginning of the summer as well to make up for the driving she'd be doing.
How much do you pay your babysitter? $10/hr What is their age (like a highschool teen, college, older?) College How many kids are they watching? 1, Age 10 Your areas COL? L/MCOL (Kansas City; I never know what to consider it.)
I paid $10/hr Sat night for a 16 year old, low to moderate COL. She arrived at 7 and put my daughter to bed at 7:25, so it was only 25 min of work, and she earned $50. If it would be during wake hours, I’d pay $15/hr.
LCOL, small town just watching one kid We pay $10 an hour and I think we're one of the better paying families around. Less than $10 seems ridiculous to me though. Age ranges anywhere from 15 to early 20s - some high school students, and some college ones who are home for summer break
$25-$30 depending on experience College age and up 3 kids (2, 8 and 10) - we often say the 8 and 10 year olds can do video games so the sitter can focus on the toddler VHCOL (nice suburb in the SF Bay Area)

We're using our first ever sitter other than grandparents tonight!
We're paying $15/hr She's the pre-k teacher at the girl's daycare and is probably late 30s or 40s. She bringing with her elementary aged daughter that DD1 loves 2 kids, 3 and 6 months M/HCOL
We don’t use a babysitter anymore but we used a high school kid. Two kids. We paid her $15/hour (my kids are older and pretty self sufficient - we paid $20 for an older sitter when they were little). We live in an east coast city.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
