We are having the exterior of our house painted. The painter used some kind of spray over the whole window, then painted it, and is now cutting/peeling the material off of the glass.
He uses a razor to go around the edges and then peels off the interior.
As a result there is a little edge of paint on the glass.
Is thus typical? I have never had windows like this with muntins (the wooden things that make yo the panes not sure if using term correctly) on both top window and bottom.
I feel like it’s going to drive me nuts to look at this but don’t want to make a bit stink if it’s normal.
Mullions - I had my windows painted a few years ago, I think it's more common to hand paint mullions and use a razor blade to fix the edges. I've taped in some situations but that's a pain w/small sections. Maybe he can come back w/a razor blade to pushback the overlap a bit?
Muntins actually is the correct term if your windows are divided into small rectangles, like 4 x 6 inches. Mullions are the larger dividers between larger sections.
I’d point it out to the contractor and ask if he can go over it again with the razor blade and get a closer cut. Unfortunately there’s not a great way to do it - even if you hand painted or taped it up, it would be as clean as factory painted, but he do better (and may be planning to go over it again).

I would say they’re more like 5x7 or 6x8.
Anyway we talked to him. He was basically trying to even out old places where the paint was on the windows. He explained it all, it made sense, and I’m over it.
He had done a great job and seems very meticulous with other stuff so I believe that this is really the best he can do.
Yeah---this happened to us. Whenever I was bored for months after I'd go back and chip more paint away with a razor. Then we eventually replaced the windows (For different reasons). I still occasionally do it on one of my French doors. I think it's normal.
