I lost my absolute mind and bought a party size bag of peanut m&m's. I am painfully aware, as I am sure my coworkers are, of how many times I open my desk drawer to get a handful.
PSA: don't order the crispy chicken sandwich at McDonald's. It's just a bun, crispy chicken and 2 slices of a pickle. No sauce, no cheese, no lettuce or tomato. Just a dry, tasteless sandwich. At first I thought they gave me a custom order and then I looked at the ingredients and it was correct.
You have to order the deluxe sandwich to get all that other stuff 😁
I don't pretend to know all the sandwiches at McD's but I seriously never thought they would sell a sandwich so bare. Even the $1 sandwich has mustard and ketchup!
Well, it took nearly a week and an awful lot of sweet talk, but we finally got DD's schedule pretty much fixed. She still has two ELA classes (and is thus, missing an elective), we're calling that a win over what it looked like last week!
My sister's kids' bus was an hour late today (after not showing up at all yesterday), and when parents in the neighborhood complained- the transportation administration suggested parents either drive their own kids to and from school for now or just expect them to miss part or all of 1st period for the next 3-4 weeks.

The fact that their McChicken even has lettuce & mayo! My husband was visibly upset when he realized this $6 sandwich was bare, lol.
I have spent the entire day goofing off, and I keep crossing paths with DH, outside of his office, so at least I am not the only one goofing off. lol
Two of our neighbors across the street had trees removed from their backyards, so we were all sitting in chairs in my yard, to get a better view of the action. There was a crane involved, so it was pretty interesting. The ten year old boy apparently still likes heavy equipment like he did when he was little.
There were baby squirrels too. One of the tree guys is involved with a wildlife rescue, so he was taking them there. The ones from my neighbor's tree were young, and super cute, but not new babies. The ones from an earlier job were tiny and pink...poor babies. And poor mamas.
I think our house painter is going to be finished today. The last I saw, he was walking around with a can of paint and a brush, doing touch ups, and it looked like he had gotten to everything.
ETA: I spoke too soon. lol He's coming back tomorrow morning for a couple of hours. I guess he needs a different roller for the rough wood on the porch posts, and he wants to go over the porch window trim again.

LOL! I was upset too! You need some fat (cheese/sauce/mayo) to counterbalance the dryness.
I'm sorry picaflora . I totally feel you on making friends people are so flakey it makes it really difficult. Is anyone still going? I've found that the people who stick to plans and show up when no one else is tend to be "my people". But it's also so much work. I'm in a really transient area and my latest group of friends are leaving in the next few months. I just don't have it in my to put the work into new friendships. I want someone I can have a comfortable conversation with and text the day before to make plans. And that stays here for more then a few years

I really wish workplaces would just chill the fuck out on goals and contributions and shit. No I don't want to add new shit to my plate. I want to do what I do. When I'm done wanting to do what I do, I'm going to go work somewhere else. Thanks.
I have to come up with ways my skills can benefit others in our office and things I want to learn more about. I don't want this. I'm tired.
al dente - it seems like there are a couple that are still going to be there, so I'm still going. I'm also hoping maybe others will show that just haven't seen the chat today.
And the one that can't make it due to childcare set up a zoom link, and asked if I would host the on-site portion. So I know she wants this to be involved/happen. We'll see how it all goes!

I found this out yesterday. I was so annoyed. I expected mayo or some kind of sauce.
I've started writing this on a post-it note every morning. It's not helping: "Procrastination is the VOLUNTARY and UNNECESSARY delay of IMPORTANT tasks, despite knowing you will be WORSE off for doing so."
Have you tried writing *one* thing that you know you are likely to procrastinate but are capable of completing that day on the same post it?

The bus situation is terrible all over. The transportation dept is probably stressed. I know our drivers are doing two routes in some areas. I feel for anyone who has to work with the public right now. I hope they can get it sorted soon for everyone.
Can I ask what her schedule was last week? I remember reading your post think it couldn’t be that bad. But having two of the same class is pretty bad

Have you tried Bumble BFF? I've been able to meet friends there-- two when I was living in suburban New York and most recently after I moved to Iowa. I connected with a very promising friend, so I froze my account, but when I'm ready to expand my circle, I'll definitely go back. There is a free version and paid version.

I know, we're short so many bus drivers here- I think she's mostly annoyed that there's been no communication when it's so late. My district uses an app that lets parents track their kid's bus, have it text when it's running late and everyone seems to love it- so she's suggesting that to her SB member (Where's The Bus).
They fixed the double ELA situation tonight (we had parent orientation)!
I'm sorry this is so long, but I have to explain the issues, they're not obviously wrong otherwise!
*P.E.: We're returning to locker rooms/dressing out this year, and I wouldn't be comfortable with this in our current "very high transmission" anti-mask conditions in FL, anyway. But the bigger annoyance is that I submitted a waiver for P.E.- she's in a STEM lab elective which requires a double elective period and that means no room for other electives (the third elective is a research class that all kids have to take). We had to apply for this, submit the waiver, it's kind of a PITA- so it would be nice if the school, you know, looked at it.
*Chorus: she ranked this absolute last on her elective ranking sheet- in a normal year we'd laugh and have her give it a shot. But this is considered a high risk activity given our COVID/mask situation. Also a problem because there just isn't room in her schedule (see P.E.).
*6th grade gen math: she took pre-Algebra (AKA: 6th grade honors math in our district) last year- it's right there on her electronic transcript. I expected this might be an issue (it's not unheard of, but unusual enough). Still a little annoying, though- because it's really- right there!
*Her 3 other core classes needed to be flipped to honors/advanced- she's a straight A gifted kid- she needs the faster paced classes, especially this year (there's naturally going to be a lot of review in our gen ed classrooms). Her 5th grade teacher sweetly submitted a recommendation for this, not that documentation matters! LOL
They normally work on schedule changes during the first week, and just have the kids sit in the incorrect class(es) until that happens. I'm not fussy about that method with a class or two, but SIX? Just too much unnecessary exposure. Now that it's all sorted out, I'm excited for her. I just feel so intensely worried, too. Everything is so much worse than this time last year, and I'm sending her out there? Ugh. If we can just make it to October, she turns 12 and get her first vaccine. It's so close, but so far.

Nonny hope your results are negative and you can go in your trip!
I'm currently on a red eye cross country flight with DS and DD (H is joining us later). First flight in 17 months. I'm a nervous flyer in normal times so I've had a melatonin and glass of wine and still can't fall asleep. Have a 4 hour layover in JFK and then another hour flight. Glad I can sleep at our destination!
InBetweenDays, thanks! My rapid test was negative. Woohoo! I hope you are asleep now and reading this once you land at JFK.
I should get full PCR results in a few days.
My H's test was a giant debacle though, because the test site we went to wasn't part of the free UW/county run sites, and he bought himself ultra cheap (re: shitty) insurance on the exchange when he retired last year, so they wanted him to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket. Which of course they didn't tell us until after my test and after we'd sat in the car for an hour past our appointment time. Add to that the heat wave shutting down a lot of testing sites early, and the spike in cases eating up all appointments, and it was a mess. We finally tracked down a home kit for him at Walgreens (which was negative), and have a him rescheduled at a free site on Friday to double check.
My sister and BIL were also OK with us still coming to Oregon given the current info we have. Especially since Kate Brown has reinstituted indoor masks in Oregon starting Friday.
@@the bigger bummer though is that my vax'd teen nephew now has a breakthrough case too (it's his mom who exposed us). That makes 3 breakthrough cases just in my H's family, which is a little eeeek.

Yep - I've done Bumble as well. Most people either flake and don't show to the first meet up, or get 'weirded out' and never agree to meet up in the first place. I did find one friend on Bumble and we clicked. We'd meet up for walks during the warmer weather in the middle of the pandemic, and it worked really well. Unfortunately she moved away a couple of months ago.
Our area is fairly transient. We have a teaching hospital in town, so there are a lot of residents/spouses of residents that move in for a few years, and then move on elsewhere. Or anyone else close to my age has young kids. And while there's nothing wrong with having young kids (we are kid-free), I know it makes it harder to get together.
