We are finishing our basement and I am looking for a cool mirror for the bathroom. I have found a few I liked but the metal wasn't the right finish. We are going to a larger mall tomorrow with several stores that should have some good options. Is there an easy way to cover the metal on a mirror that would also be durable for when the mirror is cleaned? We are using brushed nickel in the bathroom. I am imagining painting something on like gold leaf but know it probably wouldn't be that simple if there is an option.

We’ve used the rustoleum spray paint to paint a fireplace trim and it looked perfect for 10 years and probably longer but we moved houses. I’ve also used it for picture frames and it worked well.
Thank you both. The one I’m looking at has a really intricate metal design that has pieces of mirror between (a few geometric shapes) that would have probably been impossible to tape off. DH hated that one though so I’ll keep the spray in mind if I find a normal framed one

Ohhh, yeah, that sounds very hard. I do think you could paint on a gold leaf, but it sounds like a lot of work.
lindyanne, I refinish our mirror frames with Rub-N-Buff. It's a cream that you can apply with finger or brush. Easy to control and very durable when dry/hardened.
