My weekend plans are weather and smoke dependent. Beau and I have concert tickets at our county fair for tomorrow night, but we don't have a babysitter. And then he volunteered to watch his grandson for the weekend. So if the weather and smoke are ok, we may buy an extra concert ticket for DS and take them both to the fair. It's a festival concert with 5 acts going on for 6 hours so we could come and go. I have carnival passes for both the kids too. If we don't go Saturday, we'll go Sunday or Monday. I took Monday off, so we may go to the zoo and visit the dinosaur exhibit that is there for another couple of weeks. I also want to take DS school clothes and supply shopping.
Tomorrow we're going to be running around like crazy. We've got a birthday party for the girls' best friend, and immediately after that I'm dropping them off at a small family reunion for exH's family for the afternoon/evening. I currently have no idea what time they'll be home or if he's going to keep them overnight or anything. So who knows what my day will look like?
Sunday we finally get beau's son back! He's been gone with his mom for nine days, so we're all anxious to see him again. I might give my aunt a call to see if we can come crash her pool once he's home, but we don't know what time he'll be back yet.
I'm really hoping my new desk arrives this weekend so I have time to put it together. I decided to splurge and get an Uplift desk that goes from sit to stand for my home office. Since I'll be hybrid remote forever, and potentially full remote for an even longer stretch now with the uptick in cases, I went for it.
I'm also trying to figure out if I need to go get a third dose of the vaccine. I think I might qualify, based on what I've been reading so far. I made the cut for early vaccination because of immunocompromised health stuff and it sounds like I fall in this new bucket too.
Nothing happening tonight or tomorrow. Maybe I'll figure out how they will take their school supplies in.
Sunday-Tuesday we are doing the water park and then school starts Wednesday. They will miss meet the teacher which DS is fine with, DD is not happy, but honestly from a parent perspective and I've posted this before, meet the teacher was a huge crazy mess that left me sweating and questioning my life choices all so they can say hi to the teacher for 1 minute and see their desk/ room. Not to mention the crazy parking and traffic situation.
Kids are back after almost a week away - I picked them up yesterday. The trip was not smooth, and I realized that DH was in his car for 3 hours and I had to drive 6.5 hours. He insisted that I had enough charge to get home, I was silly to keep charging, and I almost ran out of battery with nowhere to charge because there was so much traffic and it was 99°. I had to shut off the AC for the last 20 minutes to conserve, and coasted into the driveway with 2% battery.
So I was extremely stressed and felt physically awful by the time we got home.
We are in the middle of a heat wave, so I’d planned to just hang out in the pool over the weekend. But DD1 has swimmer’s ear so she can’t go under or splash until she can tolerate having ear plugs in.
Then I have a bridal shower on Sunday. I’m looking forward to seeing the bride and my former coworkers, but it’s 4 hours long. That seems… LONG. My parents are watching the kids, planned to take them to the beach or swim here at my house… but swimmers ear… so now I don’t know what they will do…

New president? JK jk
we just got back into town from our beach trip. We have tons of laundry to do. Saturday we need to hopefully get DS' glasses fixed and order him a new pair as well. Sunday we have a pool party with DS' class to welcome in the new school year.
Dh is working this weekend, so not much planned. He took off for the airshow downtown Sunday. This is odd, because he takes off for absolutely nothing, but he's got a thing for planes. It would be great if I could find an outdoor patio at a restaurant that I could park myself and have lunch and drinks. But I am sure everything will be packed. So dd and I will probably be stuck somewhere in the park hopefully getting a decent meal, drink, for me, or maybe icecream out of this deal.
We planned on spending the weekend in the pool, but it’s been really rainy. We did get to go to the school picnic and meet the teacher yesterday. It was nice to see friends.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
