I am packing for the MI trip and am belatedly realizing we might need water shoes for Tahquamenon Falls. Are shoes important? If so, I can dig up old tennis shoes for everyone.
Also, should kids have life jackets on?? Especially 6 year old and 8 year old. I'm kicking myself for leaving life jackets at our cottage--if I had them, would absolutely just throw them in, but am debating whether it's worth buying them for this trip (also for pools, beaches, etc). Thanks!
I have been to tahquamenon a few times. I would pack life jackets and water shoes. Can you get by without them? Yes. But with that said I probably wouldn't get in the river without water shoes bc of rocks. I make my kids wear a life jacket everywhere besides our pool. If you rent a boat or kayak or whatever you could always call ahead of time to make sure they have life jackets for kids- but I would probably assume they do.
