I pin recipes I want to try, products that I think are cool, decorating ideas (when we were re-doing the kids' room, I was doing all of the research, so I pinned a bunch of beds/comforters so I could show them to L is one easy place), and things to do with the kids. I like it better than bookmarking a bunch of random pages that I most likely will never go back to.
You dont need it. I only gave in recently. BUT, i'm really glad I did...i've gotten a lot of good ideas on there. Its basically an idea sharing space. then, when you find an idea you like or want to use in the future you can "pin it" to your "board" and have it all organized.
Lots of great recipes (incluidng freezer/time management helpers) and kid craft or playing ideas. I've suddenly gotten really into sensory boxes thanks to pinterest and my kids dont mind one bit.
You may also like it for photography ideas (i see my photography friends pin a lot of related stuff).
I love it. It is my favorite time wasting site. I have a ton of recipies that have become favorites of ours from there. I also have lots of craft stuff and home ideas. I also have a board just of animal pictures for Annie. She loves to look at all her animals.
I just joined and I love it. I have tried a handful of recipes and started a weekly board on my BMB on TB to see what other people are making, give feedback, and put a fire under my butt. I pin a lot and make very little but I have a boards for N's birthday and for holiday decorations and K's classroom and food and decorating ideas and household chore tips. I hope to make more soon. With the school year starting and taking more work on, I haven't had time. It's great. Beware, it's easy to loose yourself in the beginning.
I like it. It's definitely not "cool" anymore - a quick glance at the homepage will show you that. Ugly clothes , cheesy inspirational quotes and wayyy too many someecards a plenty!
But it is very useful. You can "follow" other people's boards and they can follow yours. And then you can search - as pp's said, it's great for recipes, kid stuff and crafts especially. Also fun to make boards just of things you like, for fun.
I like it a lot for menu planning. C cooks and it's so easy to pin the recipes to our "Dinner this week" board and she can go look them up there. I make a decent number of the recipes I pin.
I pin a lot of stuff that's probably not going to happen (crafts, organization projects), but I like the inspiration.
