I placed a Target order for a bunch of stuff for our student that I need to pick up, and then h and I are going to a crab feast this afternoon. It’s outdoors, and the weather is gorgeous! Can’t wait!
No plans tomorrow, other than cleaning. I need to clean out the guest bedroom closet before she arrives, so that’s at the top of the list. She should be here sometime this week!
Bernadine, so exciting that it's moving so quickly!
I woke up at 5:45 and could NOT go back to sleep, so I'm already tired. No big plans this weekend, just getting everything in order for the kids to start school on Monday and DH to be OOT for a couple of weeks. Target, grocery store, maybe Costco, haircut for DS, house/yardwork, and finishing up school paperwork.
After a week of rain, the crew is here today working on our screened porch, so that's exciting at least!

I’m worried about Henri. Mostly I want everyone to be safe and dry, not loose power, etc, but my house is on the market and if I get water in my cellar because of this storm, which looks like it’s going right over my house, I will be pissed. I swear don’t want anyone to get water, but I will be so so mad at this storm if he picks my house to dump on. Or maybe piss on is a better metaphor? Good luck to everyone in its path!

I have legit not seen Lucy this happy in forever. I'm so thankful to my sister's boyfriend, he has got to be Luce's favorite person on EARTH right now, except Billie Joe Armstrong, of course. upgraded their seats to the pit, a shirt direct from the band? They didn't get home til like 1:30, so I'm just getting all the stories now. I'm so glad this came so close to going back to school. Boring summer, my ass, kid!
I get to take my MIL bra shopping today. This should be interesting 😳
ETA: it was interesting, to say the least. We went to a department store where I knew they had a person who could measure her properly. She was in the absolute wrong size and style. This woman was so patient and professional. $135 and 2 bras later, we had what we needed to get started. I’ll order more online, now that I know her size & style.
We met DH, DS, and FIL for lunch. I asked DS if he (or his spouse) is going to take me shopping when I’m old and he said no you’ll just go by yourself like you do now. Good to know I’ll be well taken care of in my old age 🤦🏻♀️

We had a small party for DS’s birthday yesterday so are doing some Clean up today and relaxing. I have next week off so we’re going to use the rainy Henri days to get stuff done at home and hopefully get to the back midweek. I went to Target this morning to buy a new floor steamer since our old one crapped out. I can’t wait to use it! I find steaming the floor strangely satisfying.
I’ve had 3 day weekends for the last 15 months. This is the first week that I worked on Friday, so I know the weekend is going to fly by.
Today is family filled- visiting my nieces and bringing them their bday gifts since I missed their party. My SS has a swim lesson then we may go to my in-laws.
Sunday I hope to do nothing. Next week will be chaos as my bf goes back to work and starts his Masters program, it’s the first full week of school for the kids, and my birthday is right in the middle. I need to rest now.
DH and I leave for Iceland on Thursday. I wrote up a long list of all the things I think our moms need to know to take care of the kids during the week (something they never do without us around or in cell range). I need to call the bank this morning and find out about getting a medical POA notarized as well.
Work is stressing me out. There’s so much to get done this week before I leave and I’m leaving a lot of work for others while I’m gone. I’m trying to be zen about it, but I don’t think it’s working. Lol
DH just sent me an article from Travel + Leisure on the perfect weekend there and I am really getting excited. We’ll be gone for eight nights and I think it’s going to be a blast.
I scheduled a waxing appointment for Wednesday and need to figure out what the rest of the week is going to look like and what we need to get done before we head out.
I’m curious to know when/if international travel will ever be the same. Obviously there are countries allowing visitors but since we know covid is going to be around forever is testing for entry/vaccine requirements going to be around forever too? Or will most countries drop it once they have access to vaccines for their citizens?
We made it to the IL's house. It's my first time visiting their new house. For reference, they lived for 30 years in a moderately sized house that seemed to function fine for a family of 3 (my husband is an only child). They sold that house right before the pandemic and bought a house double the size with a strange layout. It's practically in the back of the woods (for a suburb). I can't remember the last time I had to navigate a driveway this long. Who drags out the trash and recycling down the long drivewayr? The mailbox feels like a mile away. They're in ok shape physically, FIL better than MIL, but this house seems like an enormous upkeep compared to before.
And they have 4 refrigerators for 2 adults. So far I've checked out the 2 fridges in the kitchen and they're mostly empty. I'll have to check out the 2 in the garage later.
We’re on the way to the beach. I flipped out yesterday and told H that I didn’t have the physical, mental, and emotional bandwidth to deal with ::waveshandsinair:: everything, and he did step up an help. I did have to put a list together for him, but it all worked out. Now I get to spend the next week being mom and wife at a different address, but at least I’ll be three houses back from the beach.
We are supposed to go to the Big Island in 5 weeks to spread MILs ashes. We’ve been waiting since May 2020 to do this and it’s looking increasingly likely that we will have to cancel.
We’ve done our part. We’ve cut down activities. We got vaccinated ASAP. We mask. We contact the school board, our elected officials, I’ve personally organized a group of 550 people who are doing the same and, still, here we are, hampered by idiots.

I hate people.
We just got back from Hawaii and I have to say that I have never felt COVID safer. Every single person, everywhere we went, was wearing a mask. It was very comforting. Total mask mandate in every store, restaurant, etc.with temps taken for entry and no pushback. Only place without masks was at the pool (masks were even required in open air lobbies at the hotel) and people wore them to walk to and from the pool and when at the the outdoor quick service food line and pick up.
I’m realizing I don’t have the mental and emotional bandwidth right now to deal with everything going on.
I have a co-worker who’s vaccinated, adult daughter has been hospitalized with COVID and have been listening to her concerns & worries.
My mom is struggling right now as her oldest brother is in hospice, across the country, and they are giving him just days. She found out last night and while I don’t know this uncle well, as I’ve only met him once or twice, I’m upset because she’s upset.
I’m currently working OT and trying to mentor a good friend/colleague and I’m finding my patience to me super non-existence and just want to yell “Stop! Just listening to what I’m saying.” I’ve only said and explained it 4 times and you’re NOT listening. 🤦♀️ And then he finally says “oh, you’re right.” Dude!!!
And I have a bunch of stuff going on in my own head and am just overwhelmed with all the stuff I feel l need to be doing/working on.
What I’d really like to do is run away or turn my phone off or something, but also know I just need to plow through some of the to-do list. ~sigh~ I feel like I need a break but can’t do it right now. Am going to try to get into bed early tonight; we’ll see how that goes.

We are going to the Big island. They’ve already reschedule Ironman and there is serious talk about closing beaches and parks plus limiting gatherings. What would we do for 2 weeks? We are ok with masks but it’s too much money and disruption to not be able to do anything.

I hadn't heard that. We were in Oahu and Kauai and everything was open but with some limited capacities for dining. I definitely can see not going if things like beaches are closed. We had a car and drove around some days stopping at beaches which a lot of were pretty empty and food trucks, etc. but a lot of the days were just hanging out at the hotel pools and beaches, which did seem pretty full capacity.
I took DS to get his first Fauci ouchie (I can NOT with that name! I giggle every time I hear it) this morning. He was a little bugged that we waited so long because he hates being stuck at home during quarantines. I put it off for various reasons but now we are finally at a point where this weekend and three weeks from now are both good times for him to feel a little down if there are side effects.
A kid on his football team tested positive and since they gave up on cohorts this year he had to quarantine along with the 2/3 of his team. The other 1/3 are either fully vaccinated or had covid in the last 90 days and are exempt. The district didn’t expect so many positives when they had their mandatory testing before their first game. 12 teams from seven different schools are all in quarantine and they haven’t even started testing volleyball or soccer.
I was able to get him another rapid test so he’s able to start back on Monday but I hope the district figured something else out so they don’t continue to send hundreds of kids home every other week.
Also, Dude! Why is it so hard to get a rapid test? I was only able to get him one because Walgreens has them and I logged on at 3:30am. If you waited until a normal time all the appointments were gone. Is this one of those things where we thought covid was going away so we stopped ordering things? If so, maybe we shouldn’t do that.

I had an appointment this afternoon so stopped by McD’s for milkshakes for everyone. Someone cut me off on the way home and all 3 shakes went flying and ended up on my floorboard. 😡 I really wanted that milkshake lol.
I have to go to my moms house and pack her a bag of things for my dad to bring her later.

I am working OT and I’m kind of excited. No emails coming in or sever bogging down. I see light at the end. If I play my cards right I will be 100% caught up on Monday. That alone is worth the OT. The relief of stress is needed.

I haven't heard that at all and I don't think they'd close beaches again. They're doing everything to keep tourism going, I don't see that shutting down. It frustrating though our numbers are so high, but so is our vaccination rate and mask wearing. Of the eligible population over 80% is vaccinated, including kids it's still mid 60s I believe? Hospitals are at capacity and setting up tents though 😞 Anyways I think your trip will be able to happen. It's mostly restaurants that are difficult between limited capacity and staffing.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

Yes, Between that and that explosion of infections it's nearly impossible to find a place to test quickly.

Clearly I am desperately missing my world travel.
Several countries require proof of yellow fever vaccination and I don't see having to provide proof of other vaccines as too heavy of a burden. I would like WHO to issue a universal vaccine card if we do end up going that route.
I am also desperately missing travel and it makes me sick that so many vaccine doses are being wasted in the US because of uninformed people while other countries cannot get enough to meet their needs/wants.
My friend is in town today. We went down to DC and it was beautiful when we arrived, but by the time we made it down to the Lincoln memorial, it started pouring rain. Of course there is nowhere to go indoors there so we got totally soaked. It was a fun day though. We are home now before going to a DMB concert tonight. Thankfully it seems like the weather is better, but I am not sure I trust it not to rain again later!
She went to Target in my town when she got here yesterday, before I was home from work. She told me "all the stores said masks were recommended for unvaccinated people, but everyone was wearing masks! Are a lot of people unvaccinated here or what?" and I had to laugh. Nope, super high vaccination rate, just a lot of liberals here lol. She lives in a fairly conservative part of Michigan so it's quite different there I guess.
