Friday: Off Saturday: 30 mile gravel ride. Sunday: 2 hour mountain bike ride
BQ: Knowing that I usually feel better if I do something. On lazy days (except true days off) I try to do at least some easy yoga. Riding my bike is usually an easy decision on a daily basis since I love doing it (ok, not super hard intervals, but I do them b/c they are good for me.)
Saturday- Attempted an 8 mile run and it was a huge disaster! It ended up being 5.5. I was feeling strong too! That is okay; I can get out for the 8 mile run at some point this week.
Sunday- nothing! Had a celebration of life to attend. It was so great to be with my family and to celebrate my Uncle who passed from COVID-19 in March of 2020.
BQ- Knowing I will feel much better once I move my body.
Fri - nothing Sat - ran 3 mi w/ my husband Sun - ran 6.25 mi, the first couple with my older daughter. My younger daughter ran with my husband and I love how fast she is. The day is coming when she beats my mile PR. I am excited to see what they both will do with cross country this year.
BQ: If I have plans to meet people, I will not bail on a workout. Reserving a slot helps me, too. I so prefer working out early so that it’s done, and then I feel a sense of having “accomplished” something early in the day. Plus then I only have to shower once during the day, so it feels more efficient and like I’m saving time. On really early runs or swims, I feel like before I really even wake up, I’m already halfway through. Win!
Bonus: I like having a goal or challenge. It’s easiest for me to stick to a schedule. I just finished up a fitness challenge yesterday (I think I am one of the winners!) for most miles in July/August. Next I will finish training for a virtual race in September. I also do Peloton challenges. I feel very unmotivated if I have nothing on my calendar.
Fri: 5 mi run Sat: 18 trail run - this was super fun and I got to run in a new place with running buddies. Also was my longest trail run ever took me almost 4 hours. Sun: Rest day

Fri: Rest day Sat: 6 mile run Sun: 5 mile run
BQ: Having a training schedule helps. A couple years ago, I hired a running coach and it's been the best thing for me in terms of motivation/accountability. Even on days I don't want to run, if I have something scheduled, I at least attempt it. Some days, I finish the workout, others I might cut short. But before I had a coach, if I wasn't feeling it, I'd just skip my workout all together. I also prefer to have actual races on my calendar, but that's not so possible these days.
Friday: short run Saturday: longer run with my running club Sunday: peloton ride and strength
Bonus: If I have a training schedule/plan, I’m pretty good about following it. Meeting other people also helps.
This is where I am struggling with my current training cycle. Due to work schedules, I am not able to really meet up with people. It is so easy for me to make excuses not to get my ass out the door for training runs, when I don't have an obligation to meet someone to run.

Friday: nothing Saturday: nothing (but I did yank a bunch of Japanese hops out of our yard and that was its own workout) Sunday: Barbell Medicine's Week 3 Day 1 + accessories
BQ: Not getting behind in my program/being worried that if I don't do it today when I have the time, something else could come up another day and I would get behind.
