Our dishwasher is dying a slow death so we're looking to order something sooner rather than later. I'd like to stay under $1000 and would prefer something on the quieter side, otherwise, I don't really have any requirements other than being stainless steel.
I think Bosch has a reputation for being quiet. Ours is a Bosch (I don't know what model, it was here when we moved in and I've never looked at or for the manual lol) and I can attest that it is so quiet I sometimes open it out of habit when I'm standing right there.
I had a 2 year old GE dishwasher at my old house that I loved.
My new house has an LG and when it's on the quick turbo setting it's so quiet you can't hear it run at all, but the normal setting? Yeah, not so quiet. I want my GE dishwasher back.
I don't generally have strong feelings about appliances, but I love my Bosch dishwasher. Granted, the dishwasher that it replaced was probably 30 years old, frequently left residue, and was so loud that it was hard to watch tv on the same floor when it was running. So it was a low bar. But still, the Bosch is amazingly quiet and cleans really well. I also really like have the top pull out for silverware, which I didn't expect to like so much when we bought it.
We got a Kitchen Aid with three racks last year (when you couldn't get imports anywhere) and it's been fantastic! No regrets.
This is the one we are eyeing. A friend who had been waiting on a Bosch for 3 months with no updates just bought the KA and loves it so far. We've had great luck with KA appliances; I think they are a great value for the cost. I love their 3rd rack! The Bosch seemed flimsy in comparison.
My Whirlpool is currently pissing on my feet. It's not quite 3; the range I bought at the same time had the oven tank last year. Weird, because my mom put in a Kitchen Aid set around the same time and hers are fine- same manufacturer and very similar designs/features.
Before the Whirlpool died, it did a pretty lousy job cleaning unless run on a heavy cycle with the water heating function on. DS refers to it as "the dish-wetter".
Because I know everyone loves an update...I would've loved to have gotten a Bosch, but we are kind of time crunched since our current dishwasher is on its last leg, and the one I would've wanted wasn't even in stock any where locally. We ended up going with a Maytag that should hopefully be delivered in two weeks. Plus, we were able to get it at Costco and saved a couple hundred bucks.
I bought a Bosch last weekend and it was only available from Best Buy - free delivery and available within days.
We looked at Best Buy. We wanted either the 300 or 500 series because they were both in our budget, but they were all sold out/not available in my area.
