I have a Kyleena and I love it. I've never had children so i was warned that insertion might hurt because of the cervix but it was a quick pinch and that was it. Slight cramping for a day or two and minimal on and off bleeding the first couple weeks. No period since I had my inserted in 2018.

My first Mirena insertion hurt; it was 6 weeks post childbirth. I used tampons and the Diva cup for a few years afterwards and then my period stopped altogether.
Second insertion did not hurt at all, not sure if it was a uterus thing or a different doctor thing.

You may not need it as IUDs with hormones tend to make your periods lessen and lighten a lot (sometimes even stops them). With my Mirena I spotted for a couple of days each month and that was it. No need for anything, really.
Hopefully that's the case for you. I'd use pads until you know how your body responds to the IUD since a tampon can get snagged on the IUD strings and pull it out, and cups can cause suction that can make an IUD come out as well.
